SUNDAY 10/27 @ 11 AM GATHER & WORSHIP - Worship with your sisters and brothers across Connecticut at the Connecticut Convention Center, and hear the Good News as proclaimed by the Rt. Rev. Barbara Harris, the first woman to be consecrated a bishop in the Anglican Communion. Registration for Sunday is free but requires separate tickets!
HIGH SCHOOL AGE YOUTH ARE INVITED to be a part of the youth presence at our Annual Convention this year! Participate in the work of ECCT, learn how our church runs, and spend time in fellowship and prayer with other teens from churches all over our state. Most of our time will be spent at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, with a visit to Christ Church Cathedral, Hartford for Evensong, and an overnight lock-in at St. Monica’s, Hartford . 10/26 CENTENNIAL EVENSONG & RECEPTION at Christ Church Cathedral, Hartford at 6:30 PM. Following our legislative business session on Saturday, Convention will re-convene at our Cathedral for Evensong and to commemorate our Cathedral’s centennial anniversary. A reception will be hosted at the Cathedral House with food, music, and dancing. Parking is available at the MAT Garage (next door to Hartford Stage). Our Cathedral will validate parking tickets. Please note that registration for Evensong & Reception is separate from registration for Annual Convention! This worship service is free and open to the public. Event is free but you must register!

10/05 NC Region Parish Communication Workshop:   Join Alli Gannett, Digital Storyteller for the Episcopal Church in Connecticut for a free day long workshop all about parish communication. In the morning session (9:00 – 11:30 am) learn how to set up a basic website on Weebly.com. The afternoon session (1:00 – 3:30 pm) learn how to utilize social media to showcase your parish and share the Good News. Space is limited to 10 parishes total, and no more than 2 people per parish. 10/06 Interplay Workshop w/ Soyinka Rahim at Epiphany, Durham. Session #1 from 4 PM - 5 PM Inter-generational Sing-Along: Celebrate Our Common Humanity & Let Your Light Shine - All Ages Welcome! Session 2 # from 6 PM - 7:30 PM InterPlay: Exploring Themes of Racial Equality & Hopeful Transformation - Through Story, Movement and Voice - Adults and Teens (14 and up). 10/10 “ Let My People Go ” Ministry Network meeting at 4 pm via Zoom video conference. We are a newly formed ministry network which seeks to find ways to support migrants on our southern border. One response is to raise funds to post bail for children who have adult relatives living the United States. This work will be done through agencies which have successfully used this approach, so that the children can legally be released into the custody of people who have their well-being at heart. 10/15 Women's Lunch: "Ministry with Widows & Other Women in Need in Nigeria" Trinity, Wethersfield from 12 PM - 2 PM. Speaker, Nana Rahilla Dogo is president of the Mothers’ Union, a dynamic force for women’s empowerment all over Africa, and is in charge of all women’s ministries in the Anglican Diocese of Kafanchan in Nigeria where she developed a women’s vocational training center to help women become economically self-sufficient. Because of violent persecution of Christians and other factors, many women in northern Nigeria are widowed young and live a precarious life. The Anglican Diocese of Kafanchan has more than 2,000 widows. Come, hear the inspiring story of Mrs. Dogo’s ministry to empower women and discover strategies for women’s ministries here is the United States. 10/20 Rice & Beans & Chili Cook-Off to benefit St. Vincent's Center for Disabled Children in Haiti at Trinity, Wethersfield s tarting at 5 pm. For 12 years, this Cook-Off has taken on a “life of its own”. This year Trinity, Wethersfield and St. James', Glastonbury are again partnering and adding Christ, Middle Haddam and St. Andrews', Rocky Hill as participants. 16 cooks providing 2 oz. taster cups of Rice & Beans or Chili. Two competitions – judged and a people's choice, and you vote for the latter. Pay at the door cost: $10 adults, $3 children (3-12), $25 for family of 5 (2 adults). Come and join this community event! " History & Heritage" of the American Episcopal Church Wednesdays - October 23 - November 20 at St. John's, Bristol (5 sessions of an hour & a half each at either 10:00 A.M. or 6:30 P.M. pick the time that works best for you) - we will ALSO be having a SATURDAY HIKE & Holy Communion - on Saturday morning, November 2. A ll are welcome to join us in a hike (about a mile or so each way) up to the rocks known as Tory's Den - during the American Revolution Tories fled Patriot raiders by hiding in the rocks at Tories Den - we will have a brief time to reflect on the "middle way" and what it means to be an Anglican/Episcopalian in times of divided politics - we will then share Holy Communion among the these rocks - should be a good morning for reflection and fellowship - meeting place and time to be determined. 11/17 Honest Conversations with Muslim Neighbors at Trinity, Wethersfield at 1pm. Who are our Muslim neighbors? What do they believe? How do extremist actions worldwide affect them? Hear Connecticut Muslims share their stories, and respond to questions. American Muslims don’t have all the answers, but our guests will respond out of their own experiences, raising issues that concern them as well as us. Together, in conversation, we can promote a more peaceful world for everyone. ALL ARE WELCOME, come for an afternoon of interfaith bridge-building - & bring a friend! 12/07 SAVE THE DATE: Footwear With Care's Boot Party in Hartford. The Boot Party serves the needs of 600 homeless and disenfranchised people in the Greater Hartford Region. Volunteers assist with distributing morning snacks, cleaning feet, and handing out lunches, socks, and personal care packages. Clients also have their feet examined by medical professionals and are given a new pair of winter boots. The North Central Region has once again been invited to participate, more details coming soon!!
Season of Racial Healing, Justice & Reconciliation
11/1 - 11/3 -- Creating Brave Space: Dismantling Racism, A Teen Youth Retreat. Through storytelling, learning, listening and sharing, teen youth are invited to explore what it means to be children of God, celebrating diversity, recognizing and owning racism- its history and relevance in our lives.  We will explore our baptismal covenant to respect the dignity of every human being and discuss ways that we can bring about change in our lives and community. Join us for this important weekend of discussion, friendship, and all the things we love about Camp. Collaboration with the Absolum Jones Center for Racial Healing & Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. 11/16 - 11/17 -- Pilgrimage to Museum of African American History & Culture, in D.C. --  The Racial Healing, Justice, and Reconciliation Ministry Network's pilgrimage planning team has acquired tickets to the Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. The timed, group tickets are for two days, Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17. Travel will be by motor coach, with tentative plans to leave Hartford at 7 a.m. November 16 and make one stop in the Stamford/Greenwich area en route. Attendees will be responsible for making their own reservations at a nearby hotel, discounted rates will be available. Group size is limited. Opportunity in the SC Region: Undoing Racism Workshops - New Haven:   The People's Institute for Survival and Beyond   has been offering workshops for the dismantling of racism in the United States since its founding in 1980. They are "a national and international collective anti-racist, multicultural community organizers and educators dedicated to building an effective movement for social transformation."
                              
This year there will be a series of opportunities through the  Elm City Undoing Racism Organizing Collective   , which is a collaborator with the People's Institute for Survival and Beyond, to participate in these three day workshops. All community leaders are invited to participate (if you're reading this you are a community leader!). Workshops will be offered on:  October 18-20   and  November 8-10 . These workshops provide one opportunity to lean into the two year focus of Racial Healing, Justice, and Reconciliation...and there are many others being offered across ECCT! Please contact The Rev. United Thank Offering 2020 Annual Grants: The United Thank Offering (UTO) board of directors is pleased to announce the availability of their 2020 United Thank Offering Annual Grants. These grants are awarded for projects in The Episcopal Church and throughout the Anglican Communion, each year with a different focus. For 2020, the focus is Bless: Share faith, practice generosity and compassion, and proclaim the Good News of God in Christ with hope and humility.  The application process opened September 6, 2019; application information and forms are available here . 2020 Roanridge Trust grants available for leadership development in small towns and rural communities . Offered annually, Roanridge Trust Grants are used for the "training of town and country ministry and rural Christian workers” of The Episcopal Church. They support creative models of leadership development and training of the laity and clergy in small towns and rural communities across The Episcopal Church. Awards generally range from $5,000 to $20,000. Great for collaborative/region projects! Application deadline is December 13, 2019. For more info click here .
