On Sunday, September 29, the St. Sarkis picnic committee was gearing up for it's annual picnic. Despite the uncertainty of the weather, the picnic proved to be the most successful one yet! By 1:00 pm the church grounds were transformed into a carnival like atmosphere. At the bottom of the hill the kids zone was set up, with a bouncy house, an obstacle course, and various other children's activities.
The food station was set up to serve the delicious Armenian barbeque, along with the cold, delectable appetizers. Soft drinks, beer and wine, were also set up near the food station. Lastly the cafè set up in Pagoumian hall was most pleasing to the eyes, with a variety of homemade Armenian desserts and delicacies.

Michael Gostanian's Ensemble entertained the attendees with beautiful Armenian popular songs. Additional entertainment was provided by master Violinist Arsen Ketikyan and young rapper Tonee Marino.

THE SECOND EPISTLE OF ST. PAUL
TO THE CORINTHIANS (13:5-13)
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you-unless, of course, you fail the test? And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test. Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong. Not that people will see that we have stood the test but that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong; and our prayer is for your perfection. This is why I write these things when I am absent, that when I come I may not have to be harsh in my use of authority-the authority the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.
Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints send their greetings. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
ՊՕՂՈՍ ԱՌԱՔԵԱԼԻ ԵՐԿՐՈՐԴ ՆԱՄԱԿԸ
ԿՈՐՆԹԱՑԻՆԵՐՈՒՆ (13.5-13)
Քննեցէ՛ք դուք ձեզ, տեսնելու համար թէ նոյն հաւատքին մէջ կը մնա՞ք: Փորձեցէ՛ք դուք ձեզ. Քրիստոսի ներկայութիւնը կը զգա՞ք ձեր ներսիդին, թէ պարզապէս իր անունը կը կրէք: Յուսամ գիտէք թէ մենք այդ փորձը յաջողապէս կատարած ենք: Եւ կը խնդրենք Աստուծմէ որ չարիք չգործէք: Ասիկա ըսելով չենք ուզեր մենք մեզ ընտիր ցոյց տալ. ընդհակառակը, կ՚ուզենք որ դուք բարին գործէք, նոյնիսկ մեզ ամօթով ձգելու չափ: Որովհետեւ Աստուծոյ ճշմարտութեան դէմ ոչինչ կրնանք ընել, այլ կրնանք միայն անոր համար աշխատիլ: Ուրախութեամբ յանձն կ՚առնենք տկարանալ, միայն թէ դուք զօրանաք: Ուստի կ՚աղօթենք որ հետզհետէ կատարեալ ըլլաք: Ասիկա հեռուէն կը գրեմ ձեզի, որպէսզի երբ գամ՝ պէտք չունենամ խստութեամբ վարուելու ձեզի հետ ա՛յն իշխանութեամբ որ Տէրը ինծի տուաւ ուղղելու համար եւ ո՛չ թէ պատժելու:
Կը փակեմ նամակս, եղբայրներ. ո՛ղջ եղէք: Կատարեալ ըլլալու աշխատեցէք. մխիթարուեցէք: Համերաշխ եւ խաղաղութեամբ ապրեցէք իրարու հետ, եւ այն ատեն խաղաղութեան ու սիրոյ Աստուածը ձեզի հետ պիտի ըլլայ:
Սիրոյ համբոյրով ողջունեցէք զիրար: Այստեղի քրիստոնեաները կ՚ողջունեն ձեզ: Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսի շնորհքը, Աստուծոյ սէրը եւ Սուրբ Հոգիի հաղորդութիւնը ձեր բոլորին հետ ըլլայ: Ամէն:
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
ACCORDING TO MARK (11:27-33)
Again they came to Jerusalem. As he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him and said, "By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority to do them? Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question, answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. Did the baptism of John come from heaven or was it of human origin? Answer me." They argued with one another, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?' But shall we say, 'Of human origin?" - they were afraid of the crowd, for all regarded John as truly a prophet. So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."
ՅԻՍՈՒՍ ՔՐԻՍՏՈՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԸ
ԸՍՏ ՄԱՐԿՈՍԻ (11:27-33)
Յիսուս եւ իր աշակերտները դարձեալ Երուսաղէմ եկան: Մինչ Յիսուս տաճարին մէջ կը պտըտէր, իրեն մօտեցան աւագ քահանաներ,Օրէնքի ուսուցիչներն ու երէցները եւ հարցուցին.- Ի՞նչ իշխանութեամբ կը կատարես այս բաները: Ո՞վ քեզի այդ իշխանութիւնը տուաւ: Յիսուս պատասխանեց անոնց.- Լա՛ւ, Ձեզի պիտի ըսեմ թէ ինչ իշխանութեամբ կ՚ընեմ ասոնք, եթէ դուք ալ իմ հարցումիս պատսխանէք: Յովհաննէսի մկրտելու իշխանութիւնը Աստուծմէ՞ էր թէ մարդոցմէ: Պատասխանեցէք տեսնեմ: Անոնք սկսան իրարու միջեւ խորհիլ եւ ըսել.- Եթէ ըսենք. «Աստուծմէ տրուած էր» մեզի պիտի ըսէ թէ ինչու չհաւատացիք իրեն. իսկ «Մարդոցմէ էր» չենք կրնար ըսել՝ Ժողովուրդէն վախնալով, որովհետեւ ամէն մարդ գիտէ թէ Յովհաննէս ճշմարտապէս մարգարէ է: Ուստի պատասխանեցին Յիսուսի.- Չենք գիտեր: Յիսուս ալ իրենց հարցումին պատասխանեց ըսաւ.- Այն ատեն ես ալ ձեզի չեմ ըսեր թէ ինչ իշխանութեամբ կ՚ընեմ այս բաները:

72 HOLY DISCIPLES OF CHRIST
This Saturday, October 5, the Armenian Church commemorates the 72 Holy Disciples of Christ. The reference comes from the Gospel of Luke (Chapter 10, Verse 1): "After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go." (Note: Some sources say 72 disciples; others say 70). These disciples remained true to the Lord and their calling, and spread the Lord's message. They were not random choices, but rather true disciples whose labors carried the message of the Lord throughout the Roman Empire and beyond. All of the saints are remembered individually in the liturgical calendar of the church, but this day is set aside to remember them collectively.
