September 11-16 Extras Schedule + Rotating Choreo Sept 11-16

Please review this new document. In it you will find some solo rehearsal and group rehearsals as well as the rotating schedule for extras. Rotating extras are highlighted in yellow.

If you do not see your extra yet, don’t worry! We are still working on the extras schedule and we are hoping to send out the rest of September and all of October next week!

If you are unsure if a group is yours, please ask us! We do not want any dancers missing their rehearsals and it is simply not possible to send a personal email to each dancer with an extra.

Please stay up to date with this document. From week to week there may be changes and it is your responsibility to check in on these changes.

What To Wear To Class

We have had some questions as to what exactly to wear to each class! Some things are mandatory to wear and other things we allow the dancers to decide. Here is a general guideline:

Syllabus Ballet:
Uniform Bodysuit (they aren’t here yet! We will have them in the next couple weeks. Now now wear. Any bodysuit to syllabus)
Uniform Ballet Shoes
Uniform Tights
Hair in a Ballet Bun (no sock buns or hair accessories) - see video later in this email

Open Ballet:
Any bodysuit
Uniform Ballet Shoes
Uniform Ballet tights
Hair in a Ballet Bun (no sock buns)

Acro:
Bare feet
Dancewear is dancers choice: dancers often wear shorts and a tank top. For acro we want dancers to wear tight clothes as to not get in the way of their movements.
Hair should be up and out of the dancers face.

Jazz Tech:
Uniform Jazz Shoes
Dancewear is dancers choice: dancers often wear shorts and a tank top. For acro we want dancers to wear tight clothes as to not get in the way of their movements.
Hair should be up and out of the dancers face.

Workshop:
Dancers should wear attire appropriate to the style of their routine. IE if you are working on your jazz routine in your workshop time, please follow the Jazz Tech requirements above. If you are working on your ballet routine during workshop time, please follow the Open ballet requirements above. If you are working on your lyrical routine in your workshop time, please follow the Jazz Tech requirement above (bare feet may be requested)

Hip Hop:
Uniform shoes are not required right away.. You will need these for shoes for all perforamnces. We encourage dancers to get “funky” with their hip hop clothing. We don’t want to see dancers in their ballet uniform heading into hip hop class. Hats, etc are encouraged!

Tap:
Uniform Tap shoes
Dancewear is dancers choice: dancers often wear shorts and a tank top. For acro we want dancers to wear tight clothes as to not get in the way of their movements.
Hair should be up and out of the dancers face.

How to Make a Proper Ballet Bun

Our Studio director Miss Jenn requests that all dancers watch this video to review how we like to have buns done at Alive. Dancers should not be using sock buns or any other devices to make their buns. You should only be using pins and a hair net.

Team Building Events

This is a reminder that dancers (and parents if asked) should try to attend to team building events. This is a great opportunity to get to know your teammates and other parents in the group. We always encourage our dancers attend these events because it always helps them in the classroom too!
