Current Sermon Series
Authentic Discipleship
Discipleship is fast becoming a buzz-word in Christian circles. We use it to mean everything from casually wearing a cross necklace or having a bumper sticker with a fish to radical acts like fasting for a week or giving up everything in the name of Jesus. It leaves many people confused as to what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Is it following rules or being part of certain ceremonies? Is it a lifestyle or something we have to force ourselves to do? In our Authentic Discipleship series we will go to the master discipler Himself, Jesus. What does He have to say about being a disciple? How do we live His words in our daily lives? His answers will help us to live our faith authentically.

S'more About Jesus is This Saturday!
Sat., Sep. 8, 3-5 PM, Red Barn Park (South Mill Creek Park)
The community is invited to get to know S’more About Jesus (and Immanuel) and enjoy a fun filled afternoon that includes bounce houses, a slime table sponsored by Community Therapy Services, music, games, children’s message, and snacks. The planning committee requests the following donations: Golden Grahams Cereal, mini marshmallows, 1-pound bags of M&Ms (for s’mores trail treat bags), and cases of water. These can be placed in the basked outside the church lobby. Come join the fun, volunteer at the event, and/or help by donating an item listed above. Questions? Contact Megan with Mill Creek Event in the subject line.
GriefShare Sessions Begin
Begins Mon., Sep. 10, 6:30 PM in the Immanuel Library
Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Too often people, including Christians, tend to stuff their grief instead of allowing it to do the God-given work for which it is intended. Don’t allow fear of what others may think to keep you from what could help you. Confidentiality is very much a part of this program. Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future.
Tax Seminar
Sun., Sep. 9, 10:45 AM, Heritage Room
Wed., Sep. 12, 6:15 PM, Heritage Room
Do you want lower taxes? Join us to learn some simple and effective ideas on how to take advantage of the new tax rules to potentially lower your taxes through a variety of ways. The seminar will be presented by Steve Ciaccio, MBA, CPA, CFP®. A light meal and refreshments will be provided at each presentation.

Seniors and Caregivers Luncheon
Sun., Sep. 30, in the Fellowship Hall after the 11 AM service
Everyone is invited to come for a good old fashion potluck lunch! Immanuel wants to recognize its senior members. Without their dedication to our church, we would not be enjoying our home on the hill today. This luncheon also recognizes those who are caregivers, past and present. We must take care of ourselves in order to give to others--we might just be a day away from needing or giving care.
Immanuel members who represent services available to all members, such as Stephen Ministry, legal options and more will be available to share information and answer questions. In addition to the sign up for lunch, please consider helping with food donations. A clipboard for sign-ups is available in the church lobby.
Talk with Sue Wauer at church or contact her at suewauer@yahoo.com or 630 606 2273 about this special day.
