This holiday season, the DC Entertainment Office is excited to share merry music from local and national artists who recently visited the DC Entertainment Office studios. Performances from Benjamin Gates, Allison Balanc, Jazzo, Anissa Hargrove, Tracy Hamlin, Barrett Johnson, Sons of Serendip and the Howard University Gospel Choir are featured in the "Sounds of the Holidays" special airing this month on District of Columbia Network (DCN) and DC Radio 96.3HD4.

The biggest night in music is arguably the GRAMMY Awards, honoring the best in recording, writing and vocal talent. The Recording Academy recently announced its 2018 nominations and local hip hop artists GoldLink and Shy Glizzy are up for an award for their hit "Crew." The DC Entertainment Office congratulates our hometown artists on their nomination and encourages all District musicians to check out the local chapter of The Recording Academy as a great resource and support.

The DC Entertainment Office is proud of all the accomplishments of local musicians and look forward to highlighting even more of the District's creatives in the New Year.

Holiday Music on DCN

To celebrate this holiday season, DCN invited local recording artists of all genres to share their gift of music in a special television series, "Sounds of the Holidays." In addition to performing their favorite Christmas songs, these talented DMV musicians shared fond memories about personal holiday traditions. Hosted by "The 202's" Ferman Patterson and Michel Wright, this is a special musical gift from the DCN family that airs throughout the holiday season.

During the weekdays, John Avery is the man who manages the videography team at the DC Entertainment Office. This holiday season, you will be able to hear his smooth voice on DC Radio 96.3HD4! Starting Christmas Eve and all day Christmas, tune in to DC Radio 96.3HD4 for "The Holiday Spirit Featuring John Avery," where he plays all your favorite songs of the season.

This month, "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Cynthia Bailey stopped by the DC Radio Studios to record an episode of "12th and G." Bailey sat down with host Michel Wright for an exclusive interview where they talked about everything from her signature designer shades to the shade in Atlanta. The DC Entertainment Office recognizes Rachel Holmes as December's Filmmaker of the Month. Holmes is a District-based producer and small business owner of Cat Eye Productions, a video, digital and still collaborative whose goal is to curate high-quality, female-driven projects.


December 2017 Location of the Month DAR Headquarters and Constitutional Hall

Location of the Month

The DC Entertainment Office recognizes the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Headquarters & Constitution Hall as December's Location of the Month. The DAR Headquarters Complex features a total of 450,000 square feet of space that occupies an entire city block within steps of national landmarks in Ward 2. Its an ideal filming locale for productions looking for rooms that can easily double as the White House or an embassy interior.
