September Giving Items
Giving items for the month of September are
health kit items. Your donations may be left at the back entrance near the Welcome Center. Thank you for your generosity.

380 Kids Starts This Wednesday
We are excited for the kickoff of 380 Kids this Wednesday. If you have not registered your child, please go to our website, www.shueyvillechurch.org and do so. Classes are from 6:30-7:30 and if you would like, please join us for supper served at 6:00. Cost is a $3.00 donation per person. We hope to see you there!
Health Kits for UMCOR
Please help with United Methodist Committee for Relief health kits. They will be distributed to help provide basic necessities to people in the U.S. and around the world in times of crisis. Items needed are listed below. Please note specifics regarding the items as they have changed since last year. Please bring your donated items to the church by October 1st. Thank you for your help for people in need.
  • New hand towels 15" x 25" up to 17" x 27". No kitchen, cleaning or microfiber towels.
  • New washcloths.
  • 3 oz. or larger bars of soap. No Ivory or Jergens. Do not remove from packaging.
  • One toenail or fingernail clipper. No emery boards or metal nail files.
  • Large, sturdy comb with at least 6" of teeth. No pocket combs or picks.
  • Adult toothbrushes in sealed wrappers.
  • 10 adhesive bandages 3/4" x 3". Common household bandages will be accepted.
  • One gallon size re-sealable bags
Celebrate Baby Jones!
On Sunday, September 30th you are
invited to attend a potluck and gift card shower for Mike and Mariah Jones
following the 10:45 a.m. service
(around 11:45). They will be adding baby number four this fall and we want to celebrate with them and bless them. So bring a dish to share (cake will be provided) and if you'd like, bring a gift card to show support. The Jones family often shops at Target and
Hy-Vee but feel free to share whatever and however you feel led.
Lawn Care
Thanks to all who have been helping with lawn care this summer. It is a big commitment and the grounds do look very nice as a result. Just a reminder that we do still need volunteers for September and October. The sign-up sheet is in the church lobby. It is a great way to spend a day.
                                        Thanks from the Trustees

Get Connected in the Kitchen
Wednesday night children and youth programs will be starting September 12. Youth Pastor Mike Jones has Exit X for youth grades 6-12 and Children's Director Heather Nekola has 380 Kids for elementary school age. As part of our culture of Radical Hospitality, we offer a simple meal at 6:00 p.m. The meals are prepared by teams of volunteers who prepare a meal once a month. We start preparing at 4:00, serve at 6:00 and are usually done with clean up by 7:00 p.m. Please consider being a part of the kitchen crew. It is a great way to make disciples of Jesus, leading by example, and showing hospitality without making a huge commitment. If you would like to be a part of a team or just need more information, contact Carol Crisman or Brenda Swanson.

Coordinating Our Building Use
Are you needing a place at the church for a committee meeting or event? Please note that ALL scheduling of the building's use must be cleared and scheduled through Julie in the church office. This is not a "permission" issue, but we do need this central location for keeping track of the building's activities (we are thankful to be able to host a growing number of Boy and Girl Scouts this year!). Just drop an email or phone the office (848-7213), so there are no surprises. Thank you!
