Wrongful Death or. . .Wrongful Suit?

The Tennessee Court of Appeals recently denied a husband his right to bring a wrongful death suit on behalf of his deceased wife and instead, reinstated the late wife's daughter's wrongful death suit. 

This ruling greatly impacts the statues of "driver-" surviving spouses in the event their "passenger" spouses are killed in a motor vehicle accident. Read more about the ruling from attorney Jacob D. Strawn here.
Authorized Treating Physician's Presumption of Correctness is Strong  

The Tennessee Workers' Compensation Board handed down several cases last month that expound upon and demonstrate the strength of the presumption regarding causation afforded to authorized treating physicians. That presumption can be rebutted, but the employee will be required to do at least one thing.

Jared Renfroe from our Memphis office was one of two attendees from Team MBA (Memphis Bar Association) at a St. Jude Children's Research Hospital reception earlier this year. Team MBA worked to raise more than $16,000 for the hospital during the 15th Annual St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend. Shown here with Jared is Katherine Hawkins, regional event specialist with ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude.
