Star Center Elementary School Named as a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School by the U. S. Secretary of Education
Star Center Elementary School was recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos as one of 362 schools in the nation and one of eight schools from Wisconsin as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing National Blue Ribbon School for 2019. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

“We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos in a video message to the honorees. “As a National Blue Ribbon School, your school demonstrates what is possible when committed educators hold all students and staff to high standards and create vibrant, innovative cultures of teaching and learning.”

The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.

“The Blue Ribbon School Award is a tremendous honor and earning this distinction requires hard work, talent and vision from all of the staff, students and community at Star Center Elementary,” said Lake Geneva Schools Superintendent Dr. James Gottinger. He continued by stating, “Star Center has a lot to be proud of.”

“Congratulations to all schools that achieved WSMA accreditation for the 2018-19 school year. We applaud their efforts to provide valuable music education opportunities for students,” said WSMA Executive Director Laurie Fellenz.

  • Enroll in WSMA membership for the current school year.
  • Register one or more students for WSMA District Solo & Ensemble Festival.
  • Register one concert group of each available ensemble type for WSMA Concert Group Festivals or Concert Group Clinic Experiences.

It’s Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch Time, Badger High School, Lake Geneva
Badger High School is joining schools, early care sites, hospitals, universities, state agencies, and non-profit organizations across the Great Lakes Region to celebrate National Farm to School Month by crunching into local apples for the Sixth Annual Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch at lunch time!

This is the third year that the Lake Geneva Badger FCCLA has provided apples for the student body. The apples were purchased from Hafs Road Orchard, Lake Geneva. The FCCLA members then cleaned and cut about 500 apples so students could crunch on apples with caramel or just grab a whole apple. The students were able to get the apples during their lunch on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
