Imagine entering a space where you're surrounded with delicious and diverse foods from all over the world available for purchase.    This vision - the Tukwila Village Food Hall - will be the first of its kind in South King County.    Currently under construction, the Food Innovation Network (FIN) plans to open this 2,900-square-foot facility in spring 2020.

The Tukwila Village Food Hall includes:
  • a commercial kitchen with four cook stations,
  • a community dining area,
  • five food retail stalls, with one stall assigned for cooking demos and food and art pop-ups.
The project provides twenty food businesses access to affordable commercial kitchen space.  Also, eight entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to sell their food on site and build a strong customer base.

A program of Global to Local, Food Innovation Network helps entrepreneurs develop and build their own food businesses.  It provides training, mentoring, affordable kitchen space, and customer connections.  FIN's mission is to:
  • enhance the local food system,
  • increase access to healthy food,
  • create pathways for success, and
  • support resource- and idea-sharing that engages the diverse communities of SeaTac/Tukwila and South King County.
FIN uses a collective impact model to bring community perspective and organizational expertise together in collaboration.
New Artist in Residence at the Tukwila Community Center

The Tukwila Arts Commission is proud to feature local artist, John Taylor at the Tukwila Community Center through November 2019.   John's installation - "Mr. Zig Zag at the Duwamish Curve Café" - includes 30 colorful mixed-media paintings.  Each painting is unique and each compliments the overall work.   John will be hosting an artist's social on Tuesday, October 15 from 2:30 to 4:30pm.

John received his BA from Alfred University in NY and MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has been awarded project grants from 4Culture Seattle in 2010 and in 2019 for this project. In 2010 he received the Distinguished Staff Award from the University of Washington. In 2008 he was nominated for the Needy Fellowship for the Beknke Foundation Award and a Gap Grant from Artists Trust in 2007.  In 1983 he was awarded an Artist Fellowship in Painting from the Artist Foundation in Boston Massachusetts.

John, known for his ceramics and pottery, has exhibited locally and nationally. This will be his first all painting exhibition on the west coast. This exhibit is made possible with generous help from 4Culture.
