A MESSAGE FROM MRS. WADE

Thank you to all parents/guardians who attended Back to School Night! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and lots of new faces as well!

Next Thursday, September 13th, we will have the opportunity to come together for a night of food and games at our annual Falcon Family Picnic. This is a tradition that was just started a few years ago and everyone enjoys sharing food and fun and getting to know our new families. It will be a pot luck event and more information will come home later in the week

Sharing Our Faith - St. Teresa of Calcutta

This week, we celebrate the feast of a great modern saint, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who devoted her life to caring for the poor, sick, and dying of India. She found Christ in everyone she met. She is a great example of faith for us.

All family and friends are invited to join us each Wednesday for Mass at 8:15. What a beautiful way to start the day-together in prayer!

Happy 96th Birthday St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish School!

St. Ignatius School opened on September 5, 1922 under the guidance of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. Although there is no longer a religious sister as principal, the spirit of the MSJ Dominicans is still very present at St. Ignatius. We are proud to continue the tradition of excellence established by the Sisters as we head to our 100th birthday in just a few years.

Citadel Shopping Day Fundraiser

As you saw on your family contract and heard from our guest speaker at Back to School Night, we have been selected to receive funds from this fun event, Citadel Shopping Extravaganza. Each ticket includes lunch from Ruby's Diner, wine tasking, a raffle ticket, and discounted shopping at the Citadel stores. Best of all, $25 of every $35 ticket bought in our school's name will be given back to the school! Please remember that each family is asked to sell a minimum of two tickets, but more is great! Please share the link below with your family and friends and ask them to purchase on behalf of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish School. Citadel Ticket Purchase

VIRTUS TRAINING

Parents who plan to volunteer at school during the coming school year must be Virtus trained. Virtus is the child safety training program that all adults who work and volunteer around children at church or school must complete. It focuses on appropriate interactions with children. There is no cost to you. Virtus certification must be updated every four years through a 1 1/2 hour re-certification class. You must complete Virtus 1 before doing a re-certification.

Here is the Virtus training schedule for St. Ignatius, however, the class can be taken at any Catholic church. Please call the parish office to register for any of these classes. 323.256.3041

September 6, 2018 Virtus 1 in English 6:30-9:30 in the Pastoral Center conference room

September 20 Virtus 2 (Re-certification class) in Spanish 6:30-8 in the Pastoral Center conf. room

September 27, Virtus 2 (Re-certification class) in English 6:30 -8 in the Pastoral Center conf. room

Please be sure to obtain a certificate and bring it to the school office so we can make a copy for our files. All Staff, Parent Board, Room Parents, and Volunteers must be Virtus trained for the safety of our students.

Financial Responsibilities

A friendly reminder to all families who are making tuition payments on the 5th of the month that payment is due this week.

TOGETHER EMPOWER AT ST. IGNATIUS

The Non-profit organization, Together Empower is running an after school program at St. Ignatius. They provide various activities as well as homework help all for $125 per child per month. Additional children can attend for and extra $60 per month. Activities include dance, singing, cooking, martial arts, and art. Please stop by the office to pick up a registration packet if you are interested.

DISMISSAL PROCEDURE

Thank you for promptly picking up your child at his/her classroom. Please remember that the teacher will dismiss after the bell. Please do not disrupt the last few minutes of class by opening the door. If you have more than one child at school, your children will all be in the YOUNGEST student's classroom so you do not have to go to multiple rooms for pick up. Please do not stop older students on their way to their younger sibling's classrooms.

Any students who are not picked up 15 minutes after dismissal will be taken to our aftercare room and will need to be picked up there. (First room on upper level/small fee)

Remember to share this information with anyone who picks up your child(ren).

Did You Know...?

There is Before School Care from 7:00-7:45 each day. The cost is $25 per month (plus $10 per additional sibling) and drop ins can attend for $5 per drop in day, payable the morning of the drop in. Please see our morning care supervisor, Ms. Vivian Chiguil, between 7:00-7:45 in the Day Care Room for further questions. Registration for Before School Care can be found in the office.
