Round up whiskeys at Fort Worth's craft distilleries
Longhair Jim is produced at Acre Distilling, one of several craft distilleries that have sprung up in Fort Worth in recent years.
By Steve Stephens, The Columbus Dispatch
FORT WORTH, Texas - Texans have, at times, been known to take a belt or two (and I'm not talking about the kind that holds up your six-shooters). Take, for instance, "Longhair" Jim Courtright, 19th century gunfighter, gambler, one-time city marshal of Fort Worth - and big drinker.
Courtright, say some, worked both sides of the law with equal aplomb. But he kept the peace in Hell's Half Acre, Fort Worth's infamous red-light district at a time the city was a wild and woolly cattle town just barely this side of the frontier. Read more.

'Nude' booze? Meet British Columbia's latest booming liquor industry: vodka soda
By Simon Little and Aaron McArthur, Global News
First, it was wine, then craft beer. Now, another new liquor industry is brewing up big numbers, and taking B.C. by storm.
They're "naked" vodka sodas, a canned, carbonated alternative to beer and coolers, and one that appears to be catering to a huge, unmet demand in the market. The big difference? No sugar.
...Paul Meehan, Nutrl's self-described "marketing guy," said since the company started selling carbonated drinks with its own spirits, sales of its flagship vodka brand have gone up by 2,000 per cent.
"The convenience is a major factor, the consistency is another factor and the quality," he said.
