Fresh Start and New Years
From the Director's Desk:

Fall has always felt like the real new year to me. The heat begins to abate and cozy fall clothes come out of the closet. Summer flowers make way for the more hearty autumn foliage, and barbecue menus give way to crisp apples. School starts, with new courses, books, apartments and friends, and as faculty and staff, we gear up to meet the new class and a year full of challenges and triumphs shared, both at home and at work.

This fall, in particular, many of us look forward to a fresh start, after tumultuous spring and summer semesters. I want you to know that the WorkLife Office is here to help you with all of those transitions, added stresses and busy fall tasks as you start afresh. From relocating to a new home to locating care for children or elders, we can help.

Hello from Jaimie
I am very excited to join the WorkLife Office as the Lifespan and Family Services Coordinator and to be a part of a team that provides support and resources to faculty and staff at MSU. I worked at MSU previously with a dual appointment to James Madison College and the MSU Career Services Network and I am thrilled to be back at MSU, because I am and always have been a Spartan! I received my bachelor's degree from MSU in psychology and went on to earn a master's in community counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and a post-master's certificate in school counseling from Eastern Michigan University.

Connect with resources to
help you live your best life
The role of the WorkLife Office is to support Michigan State's faculty, academic staff, support staff, and research associates (post-docs); we accomplish this in many unique ways. As we begin a new academic year, we'd like to highlight some of the support services that are offered through our office so you know some of the ways that we are able to assist you. The WorkLife Office honors your work and personal lives and we look forward to connecting with you this year.

Year in Review 2018:
Looking Back, Looking Ahead
The WorkLife Office is proud to have provided the MSU community with over 80 educational opportunities and 342 consultations over the past year. In collaboration with units across the university and in the greater Lansing community, we have focused on fatherhood, the changing world of work, breastfeeding, caregiving and a new approach to back-up dependent care, along with networking, flexible work strategies, retirement options and international newcomer on-boarding.
