Hundreds of workplace deaths every year are caused by falling objects. A proposed new industry standard would change the rules for workplace safety and save lives.


Sheila Eads, President and Chief Executive Officer of ERB Industries was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA), at the association's Annual Meeting in Arlington, VA. Craig Wallentine, Global Business Development Manager from DowDuPont, was elected Vice Chairman. In addition, the membership elected industry leaders Brian Myers from 3M Personal Safety Division and 
Kelly Kolb from Kimberly-Clark Professional, to seats on the Board of Trustees.

MSA Safety announced Thursday that CEO William M. Lambert will retire in May and 
its president and COO,  Nishan J. Vartanian, has been named to the board of directors 
as part of the Cranberry Township company's succession plan.

The  General Accountability Office's report said the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration faces a challenge when it comes to addressing safety concerns in meat 
and poultry plants because workers may not report problems out of fear of retaliation.


The Mine Safety and Health Administration recently released its annual safety alert 
spotlighting hazards unique to the mining industry during winter.
