Blessing of the Children
Sunday, August 26 | 6 PM worship
Next Sunday evening, our worship service will include a time for our families, and all those who count children among their closest loved ones, to ask God to guide and bless each child as they take on the new academic school year.  We will do this as a community as well as with the elders of our church. Join us! Special prayer cards will be in the worship folders this Sunday.

Parents of Youth Information Meeting
Sunday, August 26 | 7:30-8:30 PM
We will have our annual Parent Informational Meeting in the CLC Youth Center after evening worship next Sunday. This will be a time to hear about youth ministries programming, including Sunday school, Link (small group discipleship for high school students), EPIC (Wednesday programming for middle school students, youth retreats, Seek the City, and other youth events throughout the year. There will also be a time of Q & A.  This will be a broad view of the Youth Ministries. Please join us to find out what we will be doing in Youth Ministries!

Congregational Day of Prayer
Monday, August 27 | 7 AM - 9 PM
The Community Life Center chapel will be open and materials will be available to help guide your prayer time. If a member or family  seeks anointing or prayer with the elders, please come to the room nearest the CLC chapel between 6-7 PM or contact Pastor Bruce Creswell at [email protected] or 704-708-

Youth Wednesday Night Programming Resumes
Wednesday, August 29 | 7-9 PM
Our weekly Wednesday night programming for high school youth (Link) and middle school youth (EPIC) begins August 29. EPIC meets in the Auxiliary Gym for fellowship, games, and spiritual refocus. Link meets in the CLC youth center, first together for large group and then break into smaller groups for discussion and discipleship. Faithful Conference
September 21-22
Don't miss our first annual Faithful Conference! The 2018 theme is "Our Unchanging Christ: Yesterday, Today, and Forever," with general sessions led by keynote speaker Al Mohler. The Faithful Conference is a multi-church event that aims to equip and inspire Christians for doctrinal fidelity, personal integrity, and corporate witness in the Charlotte area and beyond. The conference will include large group gatherings and breakout sessions. MinistrySafe Seminar
Saturday, September 29 | 9 AM-2 PM
Please join the leadership of Christ Covenant Church for an important seminar about sexual abuse awareness and skillful screening training, presented by MinistrySafe, a leader in sexual abuse prevention. Through this training, participants will learn how to recognize the offender's "grooming process," respond to reports of abuse and screen prospective staff members and volunteers for high-risk candidates. Trail Life USA Open Houses
Thursdays, September 6 and 13 | 6:30 PM
Are you looking for a Christian alternative to scouting for your son? Do you want adventure, character development and leadership opportunities for him? Trail Life USA is a Christian outdoor adventure, character and leadership program for boys and young men grades K-12. The program centers on outdoor experiences that build a young man's skills and allow him to grow on a personal level and as a role model and leader for his peers.
 
The Trail Life motto comes straight from Colossians 1:10 - "Walk Worthy," and this motto is supported by the core values of purity, service, stewardship and integrity. Theological Reading Group
September 12, October 10, and November 15 | 7 PM
In partnership with the RTS Paideia Center for Theological Discipleship, Christ Covenant will be hosting a theological reading group this fall and spring.
      Do you desire a rich theological diet so you can develop maturity in Christ? Do you want to read Christian classics but don't know where to start? Would you like to grow with people who share your love for theology and learn from those who have gone before you? If so, go to paideiacenter.com and sign up at the (very) bottom of the webpage to be notified when registration opens.
      The fall group will meet September 12, October 10, and November 15 at 7 PM in room WC-105. Blair Smith will lead a discussion of Gregory of Nazianzus's Theological Orations, which were influential behind the trinitarian theology of the Nicene Creed we recite in worship.

Women's Ministries Fall Kickoff:Adventure Awaits!
Thursday, September 13 | 7 PM
Join us as we take the opportunity to consider, remember, and offer gratitude for women who have helped us grow. We'll hear from a panel of women in each life stage sharing about the multi-generational influence in their lives. We will be roasting marshmallows around the tables to create s'mores. Come and enjoy those tasty treats as well as other snacks around our "campfires." All women are welcome! Please feel free to invite a friend! No reservations needed .

HisAbilities Speaker Series #1
Saturday, September 15 | 9:30-11:15 AM
HisAbilities will host a three-part speaker series addressing topics relevant to navigating life with disabilities. Join us on Saturday, September 15, for a presentation by Ryan Platt on unique challenges facing families with special needs and creating and implementing a plan to support and enable a positive future for a loved one with special needs. Ryan, is the founder of A Special Needs Plan, an advisory firm offering planning consultations to families; educational workshops and seminars for families, organizations, and financial professionals; and special needs planning educational resources. A light breakfast and childcare will be provided. Please register by September 5 (include childcare needs, if applicable) to Kelsey Cawthorn at [email protected]. There is no cost to attend.

When Relationships Become Idols: 
A 4-part series deciphering between healthy & codependent relationships
Mondays | Sept. 17, Oct. 1, 8, 29 | 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
The Set Free ministry is hosting a 4-part series for women about deciphering between healthy and codependent relationships. Guest speakers will help explore the differences between biblical, life-on-life friendships, and codependent relationships that threaten our spiritual health. The first session is Monday, September 1 at 7p.m. There is no cost to attend and no RSVP required. See the September 2 insert for ore information.

Women's D.I.Y. Day Registration
Saturday, October 13 | 8:30 AM - 3:15 PM
Registration is open for the women's D.I.Y. Day, an event where women can learn useful and fun new skills while forming friendships over shared interests. There are three workshop sessions and a wonderful catered lunch with a program designed to encourage and inspire women in every season and situation of life. Calling All Artists in Our Congregation! 
For our 2019 Missions Conference, we are inviting artists in our congregation to contribute to our lobby displays. Our theme will be "Love Your Neighbor," and we will be exploring this theme through local opportunities and international missions. All works will need to go through an approval process. Sketches, concepts, and dimensions will need to be submitted to Kelsey Cawthorn by Thursday, October 18. Once approved, final works must be turned in to the Outreach & Missions office by Thursday, January 23. Please contact Kelsey Cawthorn  for more information.

Women's Fall Bible Studies Registration
Studies begin in September
Registration continues for our fall session of Bible studies for women, which will begin in September. There are weekly and once-a-month studies to choose from, as well as small group options (previously The Anchor) and new Mercy Ministry groups. For information about these small group opportunities, please see the Women's Bible Studies webpage.

Jonty & Georgina are planting Christ Central Church in the center of the UK's third largest city,
Leeds, England  .
 
Pray that there would be much fruit from their summer adult Sunday school class on evangelism. Pray for encouragement for those who are struggling and those who want to help as they go through a course called, "Christians Get Depressed Too." Pray for the non-Christians who come to their church to be converted. Pray for their church to be built on prayer.

GET INVOLVED: OUTREACH 

 
Serve Children in Matthews or Uptown Charlotte
We have partnered with Matthews Elementary, Crestdale Middle School, and First Ward Creative Arts (in uptown Charlotte). If you have an interest in becoming a reading buddy/ mentor/ sidekick for a student, please prayerfully consider this opportunity. Your time commitment could be from 30 minutes to an hour, weekly. We look forward to hearing from you! Please contact Brendan Kelly for Matthews Elementary and Crestdale Middle School, and Karen Troutman for First Ward Creative Arts.

ProjectSHARE Summer Collection:
School Supplies
During the summer months of July and August, ProjectSHARE is collecting general school supplies to share with our school partners. We appreciate any and all donated school supplies. If you need a few ideas, we suggest: crayons, scissors, composition books, #2 pencils, filler paper, markers, 3x5 ruled index cards, glue sticks, colored pencils, assorted colored copy paper, Clorox disinfecting wipes, and hand sanitizer. This information is also available on our ProjectSHARE webpage. Please bring your donations to the Information Desk in the worship center any Sunday in August.

Church History Tour
Dr. Don Fortson will be leading a church history tour (March 15-23, 2019) to England and Scotland with an extension available to France. This is a unique opportunity for Christ Covenant Church members to learn about the historic roots of Christianity in America and during the Reformation. Details are at rts.edu/site/tours, including the itineraries and costs for both England/ Scotland and the optional France extension.
