UFTI Hosted UTC Conference for the Southeast
The University of Florida Transportation Institute hosted the 5th Annual UTC Conference for the Southeastern Region on Nov. 16-17, 2017. Over 230 people registered for the event, with attendees from academia and the public and private sectors. The two-day event featured keynote speakers, various paper and poster presentations, a state DOT panel, a WTS and ITE student session, and an autonomous and connected vehicles (AV/CV) demonstration.

FDOT-Funded Project that Launched I-STREET has been Completed
The University of Florida Transportation Institute worked on an FDOT-funded project to develop a roadmap for I-STREET (Implementing Solutions from Transportation Research and Evaluation of Emerging Technologies), the real-world testbed located in the City of Gainesville and the UF campus. The outcome was an extended technical memorandum containing a literature review, identification of testbeds developed and underway across the U.S. and internationally, and the industry state of the art. UF AVIAN Team Tests Automated Technology at FDOT TERL
In October 2017, the University of Florida Autonomous Vehicles at Intelligent Intersections and Advanced Networks (AVIAN) team visited the Traffic Engineering Research Lab (TERL) to test their developed hardware and software. To read more or watch a video of the testing, [click here].

I-STREET Testbed at the University of Florida Releases Second Request for Information
The UFTI has re-opened their Request for Information (RFI) to invite industry partners, private sector developers, research entities and transportation innovators to express interest and provide deployment-oriented approaches for real-world demonstration and testing of emerging technologies and transportation solutions.
The I-STREET Team will first review the RFI responses received before
January 24, 2018. RFI responses should be submitted to Dr. Clark Letter at

UFTI Reception at TRB
The University of
Florida Transportation Institute will be hosting their annual reception at the 97th meeting of the Transportation Research Board in Washington, D.C. The reception will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Baby Wale (1124 9th Street NW) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The UFTI is the recipient of the US DOT Region 4 University Transportation Center, STRIDE.
