Capital Campaign Update -- Feature Article

Building for the future -
is well underway!

The capital campaign is helping us create beautiful spaces where our children and youth can connect, grow and thrive.  

We are very excited to share that our largest classroom -- Littlehale -- has been undergoing an amazing transformation this summer! 


With the wonderful leadership of the Christian Education and Capital Campaign building
teams, including the generously-donated design expertise of  Jill Coull, and help painting from members of the Youth Group, Litttlehale will be a bright new space for children and youth of all ages to gather, learn, play, and worship.   

The classroom will now serve as a multi-function space and a Children's Chapel, with calming colors, movable furniture, art, Biblical story-telling materials, and flexible spaces for small and large groups to gather.   We are so grateful to all those who have contributed to this beautiful new space, and are excited to share it with you all in September!   We'll have a special celebration and unveiling, with a community art project for the room, on Sunday,September 16th during the CE and Mission Fair following worship, and hope to see you there!

The all church retreat gives us the opportunity to affirm the  belonging and blessedness of all of our gathered community, to deepen t he connections that create a  community of cooperation and care and helps us to remember our purpose as a faith community and as individuals.

So snap that picture on the beach or in the mountains, in the garden or arboretum, on your bike or in your favorite rocking chair and send it to the Aidan in the church office. 

Also if your contact information has changed within the last year, please send that along as well.   

"While the directory is helpful when you need to reach someone in the church, it can also be a wonderful prayer practice.  Open the directory and then set about praying each day for each subsequent person/household.  In this way we re-member each other and stay connected even when summer vacations and travels keep us from being physically together."  -- Pastor Stacy

Members of the Union Church of Waban were among 
the more than 500 who attended a forum hosted by the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization. Democratic gubernatorial and district attorney candidates were asked about their position on affordable home ownership and healthcare, then

An Opportunity to Serve --  Project Care and Concern is Requesting Our Help
Walnut House in Roxbury supports individuals transitioning out of homelessness to provide important connections and resources. Currently, Walnut House is in need of a church sponsor. We have worked with Project Care and Concern in the past to host cookouts, pot-luck dinners and an Easter dinner. If you are interested in leading (or co-leading) a sponsorship effort (e.g. organizing a fall ice cream social and a few other events throughout the year) , please contact Carol Bascom-Slack ([email protected]).

Benefit for Puerto Rico
Sept. 22, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m
Lasell College, Newton

A Benefit for Puerto Rico will be held at Lasell College here in Newton on Sept. 22, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. (the anniversary of Hurricane Maria). Come support our fellow citizens in Puerto Rico while learning about Electricity Aggregation, an exciting new climate solution coming to Newton soon with Newton PowerChoice. There will be music and children's activities as well. They are in need of volunteers to participate, especially with children's art activities.
