Administrator's Corner

Dear Parents,

We had a great first week back at TJ with all of our students! As a reminder, please leave early so that you do not get stuck in traffic on Holly Street or Happy Canyon. We also ask that all parents and Uber drivers refrain from making a u-turn on Holly as it is illegal, as well as unsafe.

Looking forward, please prepare to come to our Back to School Night on September 5th from 5-7pm. We will start promptly in the auditorium, and you will then have the opportunity to go through your student's schedule. Below is the schedule for the night!

If you haven't already, download the TJ app as this is a great way to access our calendar of events.

Queridos padres,

Student Expectations
Continued expectations for this year are:
  1. All students must wear their IDs at all times; no student will be issued either an excused or unexcused pass without an ID. Students have been told that wearing their ID is a way to make sure all teachers get to know all students, and is a safety measure, per our School Resource Officer (SRO) Tim Cueva. Replacement ID's are $5, so please make sure that you keep track of them!
  2. All students are expected to use their planners as a way to be and keep them organized as we continue to create a college going culture at TJ.
  3. Seniors must have a 93% attendance rate in order to attend Senior Prom or the commencement ceremony. We all know that consistent attendance supports academic success.
We will continue with the systems that have been in place and have proven to be effective in maximizing time for instruction and providing the environments that are conducive to the success of our students. We will continue to enforce the following:

- Tardy policy
- Attendance policy
- Dress codes
- Behavior expectations

*These policies are clearly defined in the student handbook that is issued to each student, and also on the TJ website (www.tjhs.dpsk12.org).

Mental Health and Social/Emotional Tips

Did You Know?

"Research shows that in 81% of violent incidents in U.S. schools, someone other than the attacker knew it was going to happen but failed to report it. Typically, the information goes unreported because of fear of being a 'snitch' or that the attacker will then target the informant, thereby creating a 'code of silence'.
To penetrate this code of silence, Safe2Tell Colorado initially was founded as a 501c3 non-profit organization, incorporated to develop a statewide anonymous reporting tool available 24-hours a day to accept reports whenever a Colorado youth or concerned adult perceived a threat to their safety or the safety of others."

We wanted to take this opportunity to remind our community about this wonderful resource! We all have a responsibility in keeping our community safe. We are encouraging all staff, parents, students and community members to put this resource in their phone. Here are three ways you can access this program:
        1) Use the Mobile App
        - search Safe2Tell CO

        2) Make a report on the Safe2Tell Website
        -   https://safe2tell.org/

        3) Phone a tip in using the Safe2Tell phone number
