Celebrate Career and College Success Month this October
October is Career and College Success Month -- and to celebrate, DPS will be highlighting students from across grade levels who are preparing for success after graduation, whether they are taking challenging courses, participating in extracurricular activities, visiting colleges or completing the Career Readiness Capstone.

Share the importance of college and career readiness by encouraging students in your school community to post their career and college plans using #MyPlanDPS .

Additionally, celebrate students in your school who are planning for their futures by filling out this “My Plan Is” form with a photo and signed media release to Gary Cooper . These stories will be shared throughout DPS to inspire other students to take charge of their education.

And don't forget to show your college spirit by wearing your favorite college gear every Friday in October!
Top 5: Favorite Field Trip

Congratulations to our giveaway winner, Antoinette West with CareerConnect!
5. When I was a resident at McMeen Elementary, we went to the Arvada Arts Center. There was a craft corner where every second-grader got to make their own diary and then we saw the Junie B. Jones musical. Students were entranced the entire time!” -- Candice Makowski, Math & Science Leadership Academy

4. “I was a part of a team of high school students from Manual who went to Balarat with fifth-grade students. I loved getting to introduce children to the magic of the mountains that I enjoyed as a fifth-grade student at Carson Elementary. I am currently getting the fifth-grade students at Dora Moore ready to go on their trip to Balarat in October." -- Whitney Andreasen, Dora Moore

3. Two years ago, my Barnum fifth-graders visited the Denver Post. The students sat in on a news meeting, observing editors and reporters discussing the news of the day, followed by the staff meeting with them and answering questions.” -- Patricia Pluta, Barnum

2. Each year the DPS Vision Team teachers take a group of students to Vail, Colorado for a skiing and snowshoeing adventure. This field trip transforms our students by providing them the opportunity for personal achievement and mastery of new skills and activities in a fun, social and exciting environment." -- Natalie Palmer, Vision Team

1. When I was in middle school my choir teacher took us to the DCPA campus to see an opera 'The Barber of Seville.' Never in my life had I ever seen a black opera singer. I will never forget the pride I felt as a little black girl seeing a black man on the stage. Representation is so important, and even as 28-year-old now, I will never forget that field trip!" -- Antoinette West, CareerConnect
