Coverage Plans For State Runoff Elections

Oklahoma voters will finalize the candidates who will represent their political party in runoff elections next Tuesday, Aug. 28. KGOU will again provide updates as the results come in that evening, and our reporters will be out and about getting reactions from candidates. Public Radio Personalities Make Oklahoma Appearances

This fall, listeners have a couple of opportunities to be in the same room with public radio innovators. Jad Abumrad, host of Radiolab, will be at Oklahoma Humanities' inaugural event, Curiosity Fest on Oct. 20. And author and public radio "discovery" David Sedaris will be speaking and signing books at Rose State College's Hudiburg Chevrolet Center on Nov. 14. Limited-Run Series: APM Reports on Education

APM Reports talks with participants in a college program geared to low-income students.

APM Reports tackles a number of hot topics in education these days, from whether college improves the economic prospects of all students to how best to teach kids -- especially dyslexic kids -- to read. KGOU's Sunday Radio Matinee will broadcast four episodes of this series over the next four weeks. Tune in this Sunday at noon for the first episode, "Changing Class: Are Colleges Helping Americans Move Up?"

Nashville, Tenn. is known as the home of country music, but it also has a burgeoning jazz scene. Jazz Night in America host Christian McBride had been hearing great things about that scene, and sat in with some Music City musicians for some collaboration. Watch his new video highlighting Nashville's small but serious jazz culture, and tune in tomorrow evening at 9 p.m. for the full episode.
