County Transit Workshops

The DCR Chamber and East Metro Strong launched the Dakota County Transit Opportunities Analysis with Christof Spieler, Transit Consultant with Huitt- Zollars. As a part of this study the Chamber held interactive workshops for employers in Dakota County as well a general session for communities/cities, transit providers, county and elected officials on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

The workshops included an overview of the possible benefits of transit to Dakota County, existing conditions, and challenges. Small group discussions involved the following:
  • Goals for transit in Dakota County
  • What key transit markets do you see – origins/destinations, types of employees, work schedules
  • What does transit do if it is going to be useful
  • Workforce needs
  • Other needs that transit might address
  • Challenges and opportunities

Over the next few months we will be surveying, collecting data, and interviewing businesses. We will then follow up with a second series of workshops to discuss the recommendations and opportunities for transit in Dakota County.

If you would like to be involved and receive ongoing updates please contact Maureen Scallen Failor at mscallenfailor@dcrchamber.com.
