YAGP at New York City Center's 2015 Fall for Dance Festival 

YAGP Alumni will be lighting up the stage at New York City Center's 12th annual Fall for Dance Festival. A mixed program of classical, contemporary, and experimental works offers a wide variety of performances featuring companies from around the world. 


S eptember 30 - October 1
See YAGP Alumna Christie Sciturro perform with Miami City Ballet in George Balanchine's sprightly Allegro Brillante. Set to Tschaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 3, Balanchine described the work as "everything I know about classical ballet in thirteen minutes."


October 2 - October 3
YAGP Alumna Danica Paulos will be performing Ronald K. Brown's Four Corners with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The piece depicts a spiritual awakening among angels standing in the four corners of the earth. The ballet was inspired by Carl Hancock Rux's Lamentations , and exhibits both West African and modern dance influences. 
 

Derek Dunn, YAGP 2012
October 6 - October 7
The Houston Ballet will perform  Maninyas, a New York Premiere by YAGP judge, Stanton Welch. We are excited to see YAGP Alumni Derek Dunn, Nozomi Iijima, Jim Nowakowski, Connor Walsh, and Charles- Louis Yoshiyama, among others dance with the Houston Ballet in New York. 

YAGP guest artist and ABT Principal, Herman Cornejo will be performing with former  Martha Graham Dance Company Principal, Fang-Yi Sheu in Sheu's  Pheromones. The New York premiere is set to Philip Glass' "Facades" as a pas de deux with captivating artistry. 
Wei Wang, YAGP 2010



October 8 - October 9

YAGP Alumni Wei Wang, Sasha De Sola, Daniel Deivison-Oliveira, Jennifer Stahl, and Sarah Van Patten, among others, dance with the San Francisco Ballet. The company will perform Solo by Hans van Manen in the Fall festival. A dynamic piece, performed by three men, the work is both lively and refined, making for an exciting performance. 




Hannah Bettes, YAGP 2012
October 10 - October 11 
Countless YAGP Alumni including Paulo Arrais, Bo Busby, Dusty Button, Lia Cirio, Hannah Bettes, and Diana Albrecht, among others dance with the Boston Ballet. The company will perform   Pas de Quatre, by Leonid Yakobson, a piece that is both classical and innovative in its phrasing and movement qualities. 

YAGP guest artist and New York City Ballet Principal, Tiler Peck will perform a new work with actor and comedian, Bill Irwin. The eccentric dance and theater piece focuses on the passage of time.

Joan Sebastian Zamora, YAGP 2010
Joining the Joffrey Ballet:
YAGP Alum Joan Sebastian Zamora starred in the 2011 documentary  First Position , following his journey as he travelled from Santiago de Cali, Columbia to win second place at YAGP's 2011 Finals. Joan has since danced with the Royal Ballet, English National Ballet. 
 
YAGP 2009 Finalist, Nicole Ciapponi spent time at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet School, and San Francisco Ballet, where she danced for five years as a member of the Corps de  Ballet.

YAGP 2003 Finalist, Anna Gerberich began dancing at the

age of seven in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. Anna trained at the  Kaatsban Kirov Academy and  American Ballet Theatre's  Summer Program on full scholarships. She was a 
Principal  with the Charlotte  Ballet for the past seven years.
 
YAGP 2015 Finalist Stefan Goncalvez started  his formal ballet  training at age 13 in São Paulo, Brazil. Stefan received a scholarship to attend the Harid Conservatory in 2010  and was awarded the Rudolph Nureyev Fellowship in 2012.

YAGP 2012 Senior Women's Bronze Medalist and Pas de Deux Gold Medalist, Gayeon Jung, is 
originally from Seoul, Korea, and  graduated from the Korea National University of Arts in 2014. 
 
 
Joining the Boston Ballet: 
YAGP's 2006 Finalist, Jillian Barrell from Wilmington, Delaware joins as a member of the Corps de Ballet. Jillian previously danced with Ballet Arizona from 2007- 2014.
 
YAGP Alumni Drew Nelson and Hannah Bettes won the silver medal  in the pas de deux category at YAGP's 2011 Finals. Drew of Omaha, Nebraska previously danced with the Royal Danish Ballet and will join Hannah in Boston Ballet's Corps de Ballet this coming season.
 
YAGP Alum, Albert Gordon, has been promoted to the corps de ballet from Boston Ballet II, which he joined in 2013. Gordon was a YAGP 2012 and 2013 Finalist, and received the Mary Day Award in 2013.
 
YAGP Alumni Diana Albrecht, Irlan Silva and Junxiong Shao have been promoted to Second Soloists. Diana Albrecht from Asunión, Paraguay, was a YAGP 2005 Finalist and joined Boston Ballet in 2011. Irlan Silva of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, won First Place at YAGP's 2007 Brazil Semi-Finals and won the Outstanding Contemporary Dancer Award at the 2008 NY Finals. Junxiong Zhao started dancing at age 11 in Chongqing, China and won multiple YAGP semi-finals and finals awards, most recently a bronze medal at  YAGP's  2011 NY Finals.

Joining the Tulsa Ballet:
YAGP 2009 Finalist, Chong Sun joins Tulsa Ballet as a Demi-Soloist after dancing with the Washington Ballet for the past five years. Originally from Beijing, China, Chong began his training at age 12 at Beijing Dancing Academy, and later attended the Kirov Academy of Washington, D.C. on a full scholarship.
 
Jennifer Grace, YAGP 2013
YAGP 2013 Finalist, Jennifer Grace from Bozeman, Montana, trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow,  and the Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy in Southern California. Jennifer joined Tulsa Ballet in 2014 and was promoted to Demi- Soloist for the upcoming season.

YAGP 2011 Finalist, Cavan Conley trained at Festival Ballet Providence, the Nutmeg Conservatory, and earned a full scholarship to the Harid Conservatory. While at Harid, Cavan received the Ruldolf Nureyev Fellowship Dance Award, and the Jeannot B. Cerrone Award. Cavan joined Tulsa Ballet II in 2012, was promoted to Tulsa Ballet's Corps de Ballet for the 2013/14 season, and will be featured as a Demi- Soloist this coming season.

YAGP 2013 Finalist, Chandler Proctor was born in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina and attended summer intensives at San Francisco Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and Houston Ballet. Chandler joins Tulsa Ballet as a member of the Corps de Ballet after dancing with Houston Ballet II since 2013.
 
YAGP Alum João Pedro Sampaio, won first place in the Ensemble category at YAGP's 2014 Finals, and h as previously danced with Balletarrj Escola de Danca in Rio de Janeiro, and in Galas around the world. João  joins Tulsa Ballet as an Apprentice.

YAGP 2012 and 2014 Alumna, Maine Kawashima trained at the Marat Daukayev School of Ballet in Los Angeles and later at The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School. Maine joined Tulsa Ballet in 2014 as an Apprentice and was promoted to the Corps de Ballet for the 2015/16 season.

YAGP at American Ballet Theatre

James Whiteside, YAGP 2001
September 1 and September 3
Join YAGP Alumni Cory Stearns, James Whiteside, and Isabella Boylston, in California for ABT's presentation of  American Classics with Audra McDonald and American Ballet Theatre . The dancers will perform Jerome Robbin's 1944 classic,  Fancy Free  accompanied by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

October 21
The company returns to New York for their Fall season at the David H. Koch Theatre at Lincoln Center. YAGP Alumni Isabella Boylston, Joseph Gorak, and James Whiteside will start the season with a performance of  The Brahms-Haydn Variations .
