TIPS FOR YOUR TAP
Tips for thirsty lawns and plants during unusual heat
Not only are we breaking records with the heat this month, we are still in the longest dry weather period recorded in 20 years. These conditions are harsh for our lawns and plants. Here are some wise watering tips that will help keep your surroundings green, while keeping some green in your wallet, too!
SEE THE 'QUIET GIANT'
Join us for a centennial celebration
Pumping Station No. 3 just finished its makeover, and is ready for guests to come for a tour at Louisville Water Tower Park. The reopening also commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the station that houses one of the only remaining steam engines anywhere in the country! This 'Quiet Giant' moved millions of gallons of water through our system. Join us Sunday, October 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. for a tour of the facilities and a look at this enormous engine!
Trick or Treatment is spooktacular fun
Do you like candy, zombie walks, spooky science and ghost stories? Join us for a boo-tiful night at the Crescent Hill Gatehouse and Reservoir. Our annual Trick or Treament event is Wednesday, October 23 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bring your whole family for one of our most popular programs of the year -- costumes encouraged! Trick or Treatment is free and open to the public.
Monitoring river conditions
Last week, the state issued a recreational public health advisory for the Ohio River near Louisville. The advisory was issued because scientists detected a harmful algal bloom. This is NOT an issue for Louisville's drinking water. It means you should take precautions if using the river for wading, swimming and other water activities. Our scientists have been performing extra testing of the river since July -- on top of the more than 200 tests we do daily.
Help for Hurricane Dorian victims
The Louisville Water Foundation has provided a grant to support WaterStep's efforts to deploy water treatment and water sanitation devices to areas in the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.
Who is this?
You could win a prize if you know!

We captured this celebrity pure tap moment at the Hometown Rising
concert last month. The first five people to answer correctly
will receive a pure tap prize pack! Good luck!
Congratulations to our winners of the September contest: Scott Dungan, Laurie Hobbs, Zach Fisher, Francis Skolnick, and Amanda Bell! September's picture was of one of our many water fill stations at the Louisville Zoo. Bring a reusuable bottle when you visit and fill up for free while learning about the animals!
