MUMC Yard Angels Work Day
Sat., October 5th, 9:00 AM to Noon

Welcome to any and all willing volunteers! The Trustees have just a little bit of yard work to do and, if yard work is not your thing, we have some exterior window frames that need to be sanded and painted.

It has been a while since the last painting and some are looking a bit cracked and will need to be sealed for the winter. We promise good people, good weather (fingers crossed) and good snacks. Would love to see you, anytime you can help, between 9 and 12 Saturday morning, October 5.

Thanks so much,
The Trustees
- Parent's Night Out -
Getting Ready for the New Season!
Begins Friday, Oct. 11th, 6 PM

As we look forward to school beginning in a few weeks, we begin planning for one of Morningside's most successful outreach programs - Parents Night Out.

The program runs October to May, on the 2nd Friday night of the month.  It offers Morningside neighbors a safe and fun place to drop-off their kids, giving parents a well-deserved night out.

To make that happen, though, we need volunteers to help out. If you can spare one evening a month and enjoy working with kids, we could use your help!

We need people to:
  • Check in and register kids
  • Help in the nursery with the little ones
  • Work in the kitchen preparing and serving food
  • Organizing and leading games and activities

If you are able to help out, sign up on the Wall of Helping Hands in the main hallway or talk call the office.

Middle School Youth Group
City Camp 2019 Report

Our middle school youth spent a week serving and learning on their mission trip to Portland in August. 7 youth from our Open Door Churches joined 35 other youth from around the Portland area. They stayed at Portland First UMC and each day went out to do a variety of service projects. Among them were serving a meal at Blanchet House in downtown Portland, sorting onions at the Oregon Food Bank, helping guests fill their food boxes at Bethlehem House of Bread, and serving under the Burnside Bridge on Thursday night at Nightstrike. Our youth worked hard and had a great time.

Open Door Churches Young Adults October Schedule

In September, the Open Door Church Young Adult Group has been sharing in conversations on the book of Psalms.Together we have looked at the Psalms each Open Door pastor chose and searched for ways the Psalm informs our lives today. We are looking forward to taking what we have learned and applying it as we write our own Psalms. It was a great joy this past month to be asked to speak at the Open Door Church Park Worship Service as one of the diverse groups within Open Door Churches. Together we reflected on how we individually and as a community practice our faith as a part of the body of Christ. This month we have also been using our new Instagram page to share who we are and what we are up to. Please check us out on social media. The Open Door Young Adults meet weekly on Wednesday evenings. Please contact Pastor Alyssa (alyssabaker08@gmail.com) or see our social media pages for times and places. Thank you for your continued support of the Open Door Church Young Adults.
