Downtown Trick or Treat, with a Twist
Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls will be stalking downtown Burlington again for Trick or Treat on Friday, October 25 from 4 to 6 PM. We will have a special feature this year - "History on the Move: Iowa History 101," the State Historical Museum of Iowa's traveling exhibit. The mobile museum, free and open for all to tour, will be located at Third and Jefferson.

We are also making a change to the event this year. As Downtown Trick or Treat continues to grow, we want to ensure everyone's safety; for that reason, we will be closing Jefferson to parking and traffic beginning at 3:30 through the end of the event. Trick or Treat is a huge draw and a wonderful goodwill gesture to area children and families. Thanks to all those business owners who welcome them!
144 Envelopes - Your Support Is Appreciated!
Downtown Partners board members are approaching area individuals and businesses for the annual 144 Envelopes fundraiser. Deery Brothers Toyota is sponsoring our special thank you reception for all donors and their guests in a fourth floor condo at the Schramm Building on the evening of October 8 with food, beverages, live music, and a silent auction. We hope you'll show your support for DPI's many activities by contributing at a level that is meaningful to you. If you have questions or would like to contribute, contact Downtown Partners at 319-208-0056 or email. Together we are making great strides!
Witches Night Out
Get ready for a ladies' shopping night out on Thursday, October 24 from 5 to 8 PM! Grab your Ghoul Friends and fly in to The Beancounter to pick up your witch hats, then decorate them as you go from store to store to complete your look. For more information, contact Rachel Lindeen at 319-208-0046 or email
Pumpkin Spice & Holiday Nice
Imagine a mashup of the Jefferson St. Farmers Market and A Very Vintage Market with a fall/holiday theme - that's Pumpkin Spice & Holiday Nice! This new event will take place in the 200-500 blocks of Jefferson on Saturday, November 2 from 9 AM to 2 PM. We've invited all the current vendors, and the response has been great. Get this one on your calendar!
Start Planning Now -
Lighted Holiday Parade
Downtown Partners' Lighted Holiday Parade will take place on Jefferson Street on Saturday, November 30 at 5 PM. Although it seems like a long way off, it's not too early to start planning your entry! This year's theme will be "Jingle on Jefferson." Download the parade entry form at here.
The Latest News...
  • With another Jefferson St. Farmers Market season in the books, we have to thank our great vendors, steering committee members Susan Gerst, Wilma Hemphill, and Doreen Roy, volunteers Jordan Roy, Bob Roy, and Jerry Johnson, the musicians, horse master Paul Bishop, market manager Rachel Lindeen, and all the wonderful customers who joined us on Thursday evenings. Special thanks go to Two Rivers Bank & Trust for their valued support. We're already looking forward to 2020!
  • The city council is considering several more changes to parking in downtown that have the potential to make better use of the public lots while also freeing up on-street parking for customers - definitely a step forward. Come to the next Kegs & Conversation, 5:15 on October 30 at Bent River, to learn more. It's open to all downtown business and property owners, employees, and residents - you'll be able to share your news as well.
  • The Downtown Burlington, Iowa Facebook page has passed 10,000 Likes - hope you are among them!
  • Downtown Partners is planning repairs for the falling brick at the building we own at 300 Washington (the former Typewriter Shop). Thanks for your continued patience. It is taking longer than we'd hoped, but our goal remains to save the building and sell it for redevelopment.
  • Y & J Properties has work is underway on 38 apartments and first floor commercial space on their building at 425 Valley. This standout building in the Manufacturing & Wholesale Historic District will be even more awesome! Construction will probably take a year or so.
  • Great to see all the façade work happening along Jefferson!
