Día de los Muertos Celebration!

Come celebrate Día de los Muertos with us on Saturday, October 19, 2019! There will be lots of fun events and activities, including face painting, a movie screening of Coco, a procession, and so much more (all for FREE)!

We invite all Latin Americanists and Latinx Studies scholars, educators, and students from institutions of higher education to participate in the Ohio Latin Americanist Conference (OLAC). All proposals are welcome and may include (but are not limited to) literature, linguistics, history, education, geography, political science, economics, anthropology, sociology, art, area studies such as cultural, international, women's, gender, ethnic, and sexuality studies and film and cinema studies. We also invite proposals related to the natural sciences, environmental science, bioethics, and other fields underrepresented in past OLAC conferences. The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, Dec. 6. 2019.

This annual event aims to promote an exchange of ideas between Quechua speakers, community leaders, college students and professors who share an interest and passion for Quechua language and Andean culture. Don't forget: all attendants must register by November 7, 2019.

The University of Florida's Center for Latin American Studies is happy to announce their 69th Annual Conference: "Being on Earth: Territorios, Soundscapes, Biocultural Diversity, and Relationships" designed to cultivate conversations across boundaries about what it means to be on Earth in an era of radical social-ecological change. Participants are invited to share research and experiences applying ecology, linguistics, ethnography, ethnomusicology, governance, law, geography and other approaches to dimensions of being on earth: territorios, soundscapes, biocultural diversity, and relationships. Please consider proposing a paper, activity, or other form of expression that addresses either territorios, soundscapes, biocultural diversity, or relationships. The deadline to submit proposals is October 13, 2019.

The University of Illinois offers Global Fieldwork programs designed specifically for preservice and in service teachers to experience classrooms around the world, build collaborative partnerships with local teachers in each destination, and work directly with the university's Education faculty to develop global competency for teachers and their students. Additionally, the College of Education recognizes the value of practicing teachers in our community and across the U.S., and offers current, licensed K-12 teachers the opportunity to receive funding for an Education Abroad program of their choice. Global Intersections Fieldwork for Teachers (GIFT) applicants may request up to $1,500 in study abroad funding.
