Welcome Visitors

We want to welcome last month's visitors. Thank you for worshiping with us!

Love Offerings
Each month we will highlight an outreach or special ministry. Loose cash offerings and designated offerings will be given directly to those ministry opportunities.

In March we collected $971.00 for Project Sparkle!

The April Love Offering is to Youth Scholarships, which is a LCC Helping Hands fund to help our youth attend youth activities. The purpose of this money will be to allow students to offer a "helping hand" to the church or any of its members in exchange for covering an event fee.
Pastor's Message
We had an excellent Council retreat this last month.  We also had good member participation.  A couple of primary areas of conversation were what we do well, what we need to be working on, organizing and clarifying mission teams, and what we can do to be more visible and serving in our community.

Things we do well included: Adult Education, Small Groups, Friendliness, Love, how we do worship, outdoor services, focus on Bible, clear Christ centered, Hiking and other opportunities,
Inviting building, VBS, BB court/playground, International Connection / Missions.

Things we would like to give attention to in the coming year: (Highest priorities are starred*)

*Finish Prayer Path
*Marketing
*Outreach to Community
*Ministry Teams
Spiritual Formation / Look Inward (strength and weakness)
Summer Events - Worship Events (Band, movie)
Help lead members to life mission
Be a congregation of Prayer
Infant Care Program

Events: basketball, need new signage
Internal Challenges: resistance to change / pigeon hole who we are

We evaluated what areas could use a Ministry Team or Coordinator.  Some already exist in some form and others we hope to develop.  Please consider if you would be willing to Chair or be on a team in any of the following areas.  I will highlight that the one area that we have had little or no focus that we must make a priority is marketing.  We really need a ministry team in this area.  With all Ministry Teams we will be developing at least a basic outline of objectives and responsibilities.

Finally, ideas for being more visible and serving in our community are : (additional ideas are still welcome!)

1. Infant Care - rent or our own (Marcee)
2. participate in parking for events
3. adopt highway program (Linda M)
4. expand rodeo - offer hot dogs, popcorn, lemonade, playground, bouncy house, church float in parade (Art)
5. Art Exhibit
6. Softball - partnerships
7. Training Opportunities for community - ex. First Aid course (Paul M)
8. Shutin (Mark S)
9. Host event for girls (Cheryl)

Please pray about all the wonderful ideas presented and consider if God is leading you to help the health of LCC by serving in some area.

Pastor's Sabbatical
Pastor Philip will be taking a three month sabbatical April 17 through July 17. Sabbaticals are a part of Pastor's contract and LCC's policy.  John Bergen will provide the primary leadership and many others will be supporting by providing sermons, leading worship, and other areas.  A meeting will be held in January to put together a schedule if you would like to help.

The theme of the sabbatical is Beaks, Peaks, and the Holy Spirit Speaks.  The sabbatical will include 2 months in the US and one month in Africa.  During that time Pastor will be spending time in God's creation bird watching, climbing peaks, and spending time in God's Word to be refreshed and inspired to a renewed passion for ministry.  Please pray for Pastor as preparations are made and as the renewal takes place.
