Sept 29 – Beginning Again in Love
As Rosh Hashana and the Jewish high holidays approach we take a moment to reflect on our lives over the past year. What does it mean that none of the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism offer a place of forgiveness? How do we reconnect when we have missed the mark and not lived into our best selves?

Who Will Speak for Me?
Our faith in the democratic process may be strained for human beings, but what about all of the other beings that share the planet with us? UCH Animal Ministry group will share stories of our animal relations – urging us to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Our congregation is staffing the PADS homeless shelter at Redeemer Lutheran, 139 E. First St., Hinsdale, on
Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29. We need volunteers to set up the sleeping areas, help with dinner and breakfast, provide overnight staffing, clean up and put everything away, and, finally, to launder the bedding. It's a lot of work but with many hands we can get it all done. Use this link to sign up

Join the CRUU!!
Handyperson Cruu (Crew) Forming Now at UCH
Are you always fixing things around the house? Making sure that light bulb is replaced? Changing out the storm windows when it's time?
WE NEED YOU!
We're looking for a few good people to make sure simple, routine jobs around the church get done in a timely manner. Rev Pam, Pam and Linda do their best to keep our buildings well-lit and cared for but need real help. Changing fluorescent light bulbs, organizing tools, readying for a new season are always on a list with small fix-it jobs here and there.
The now defunct boiler room is in need of a good cleaning out to organize our tools and be ready for the coming year. Linda has created a yearly task list to keep us all on point.
Together we can keep our beloved space in good shape - thanks for considering!

Neighbor Nights Coming this Fall to an Area Near You!!
The Membership Committee is organizing the popular Neighbor Nights this fall. Neighbor nights are enjoyable opportunities for our church family to gather together in homes. Host picks a date and time in the fall, invites members in your area (list will be provided), asks for people to bring food and beverage to share, and VOILA! -- it's a party! Our church community loves these small group get-togethers!
We are looking for host homes to serve as gathering places for church neighbors and friends. Be on the lookout for more information about the Neighbor Night in your area. To sign up to host, either sign up on the sheet in the Alice Warren Room or contact Megan Griffin at
meganlehuta@yahoo.com
or (708) 314-0644.
The host areas are:
