Rotary clubs are well known for their work on clean water and sanitation in developing countries. However, they seldom tackle clean water projects in their own backyards.
The
Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise (Canada), under the guidance of John Lawrence, has established the "Clean Water for Living" initiative. This project has developed an excellent
website, with resources related to the Great Lakes watershed. They also spotlight their
Clean Water Champions and
top quality videos they produced on a variety of water issues.
You can learn more about Clean Water for Living by visiting the WASRAG Blog.

Port Orchard Rotary Club already has a two kilometers of water backed up behind it, from a rainfall that occurred 120 kilometers away.
The water the people of East Pokot, Kenya are now drinking is safer than the high fluoride concentrated water they were consuming.
This project is so successful, that the tribal leads now have to determine how best to use water for irrigaton.

60 Years Solving Water Challenges
UNESCO-IHE Institute of Water Education in 2017 will be celebrating its 60th Anniversary. The institute, based in the Netherlands, is the largest international graduate water education facility in the world.
Increasing the number of trained professionals is necessary to tackle the world's water and sanitation issues.
The Rotary Foundation recognizes this need and provides 10 grants to Rotary clubs and districts to select and sponsor a limited number of students each year to attend the Institute.

The Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG) is pleased to consider partnerships with any corporate supporter. Due to the unique attributes of water sources and water provision, acceptance of corporate support does not imply an endorsement of any particular water technology. Rotarians, Rotary clubs, and Rotary partners must evaluate any technology to determine if it is the best solution for the conditions where the program will be implemented. WASRAG can provide guidance about where different technologies work best, but Rotarians and Rotary clubs must make the final decision about how to implement their programs.
