The abortion industry is still pressing ahead with their killing agenda
but Pro-Life wins are growing.
NEWS AND VIEWS
1. In Georgia
on Tuesday, Federal District Judge Steve Jones (an appointee of former President Obama) issued a temporary restraining order against the enactment of Georgia's version of the Heartbeat Law. He cited the likelihood that the challenge filed by the ACLU and Planned Parenthood is "likely to succeed" given the
Roe
precedent. As we reported earlier, the Georgia law contains exceptions for rape and incest, so having it overturned wouldn't be wished, as this bill would not serve to save as many babies as the Ohio original law does. Perhaps Georgia lawmakers serious about protecting defenseless life will tee up a Life at Conception Bill next!
2. Under cover of darkness
(and using a shell corporation), Planned Parenthood converted a medical office building in southern Illinois into an 18,000 square foot "mega-slaughterhouse." A CBS News
article
bemoans the "problems" women in Missouri face to obtain an abortion and legislative restrictions on the practice of abortion which are continually being put in place. Planned Parenthood thinks they will be doing a "service" by this mega-pit, which they estimate will have 11,000 customers a year. One thing that is certain: there is now a central location for Pro-Life sidewalk counselors to converge to share the Gospel of Life with 11,000 women a year and we pray save more and more babies from the slaughter.
3. In the case of the consequences when man tries to play God
: An FDA
study
is showing the use of puberty-blocking drugs (which are being prescribed off-label for the purposes of gender-transition in children) comes with significant side effects, including increased deaths. It seems that Lupron and other puberty-blockers are associated with increased risk of blood clots, brittle bones, faulty joints and cardiovascular issues. Over 6,700 deaths are now associated with the use of this class of drugs. This is just another indicator of the fact that God is the Creator, He created us male and female, and no amount of tampering with the design changes that basic truth and medical fact.
4. Don't fall for the NIMBY fallacy
. NIMBY means "Not in my back yard," in essence, that something bad can't happen to or near you. A report from Britain indicates a Christian physician with 30 years of service in the British government was fired because he wouldn't use a "personal pronoun" to address patients who present as transgender. An employment tribunal (like an administrative court) ruled that Dr. David Mackereth's beliefs that "gender is defined by biology and genetics" and in the truth of the Bible are "incompatible with human dignity." Let that sink in...Christian faith and scientific truth are now "incompatible with human dignity." This ruling is significant, because it may not be long before some court rules that being Christian is "incompatible with human dignity."
5. It was announced on Thursday the Ohio House is changing up the chairmanships of some committees.
This is important to Pro-Life advocates because the House Health Committee is losing Pro-Life Chairman Derrick Merrin, who will now be chairing the Ways & Means Committee. His replacement is Rep. Scott Lipps of Warren County. Lipps votes Pro-Life and we hope to anticipate a strong commitment to advancing Pro-Life legislation from the new Health Committee Chairman. There will be further shifts, as current House Primary & Secondary Education Committee Chairman Rep. Louis Blessing III has been tapped to replace outgoing Senator Lou Terhar. Blessing will be sworn in to the Senate seat on Wednesday. We look for the announcement of the new chair in the next couple of weeks.

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Michael Donnelly
-one of the newest jurists on the Ohio Supreme Court is Justice Donnelly, who won election in November 2018 to a six-year term. Prior to joining the OSC, Justice Donnelly served as a judge on the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, General Division from 2005 to 2018. Before serving as a member of the local judiciary, he was an assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor from 1992 until 1997. He is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School and John Carroll University. Donnelly received his Juris Doctor Degree from Cleveland State University's Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He has voted in the minority (against pro-life positions) on key cases that have come before the court this year.
United States Senate
-Senator Sherrod Brown (D), the well-known three term U.S. Senator from Cleveland, is one of Ohio's two United States Senators who serve the entire state of Ohio. Brown was formerly a State Representative and then Ohio Secretary of State prior to advancing to the Senate. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Yale University in Russian Studies and a Master Degree in Education and Public Administration from the Ohio State University. He serves as the ranking member on the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, and is a member of the Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry, Finance, and Veterans' Affairs Committees. Brown has offices in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and Lorain. He was re-elected in 2018 and is not up for re-election until 2024.
Brown is a consistent pro-abort voice and bill sponsor in the Senate.
U.S. Congressman
-Steve Chabot (R) 1
st
Congressional District, is currently serving his fifth consecutive two-year term. Chabot is a former Cincinnati City Councilman and Hamilton County Commissioner. He lives in Cincinnati and represents all of Warren County and parts of Hamilton County in the First District. Chabot previously served in Congress in 1994 up until the 2008 election, when he lost to Steve Driehaus. He regained the seat in the 2010 tilt and has held the seat since. Chabot, an Attorney by trade, holds a Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary and earned a Juris Doctorate from Northern Kentucky University. He serves on the Committee on the Judiciary, Committee on Small Business and Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Chabot is a Pro-Life leader in Congress, having authored the now-enacted ban on the practice of partial-birth abortion at the federal level.
Committees of the Ohio House
: Aging and Long-Term Care-the House committee is charged with reviewing legislation that primarily affects the interests of seniors, including bills dealing with senior health issues such as Alzheimer's. The committee consists of nine Republican and six Democrats. The committee is chaired by Rep. Tim Ginter. The committee usually meets on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.
Committees of the Ohio Senate
: Agriculture and Natural Resources-the Senate committee reviews a wide variety of policy matters, including bills dealing with amusement ride safety, hemp production, and veterinary issues. The committee consists of eight Republican members and three Democrat members. Senator Frank Hoagland is the chairman of the committee, which usually meets on Wednesday afternoons at 4:00 p.m.
