Get Walking this Fall

Join our month long walking program, Walktober, which kicks off today.
Registrants will aim to walk at least 6,000 steps at least five days a week in October in order to successfully complete the challenge.
There are great recipes, walking maps and the chance to join a team of fellow faculty and staff for extra motivation. Randomly selected participants who complete the program will be chosen for a "walking enthusiast kit" or a free two week pass at One to One or Next Level Fitness.

Join the fun and enjoy the fall colors with Walktober!
Help Fight the Stigma Associated with Mental Illness
The week of October 6-12 has been designated as Mental Illness Awareness month across the United States. We know that our community at CWRU will be stronger when we support the mental health and well-being of all. As part of our efforts to support and de-stigmatize mental illness, the Wellness Program reminds the campus community that:
  • Mental illness is common. One in five Americans are affected by mental health conditions.
  • The university cares about its faculty and staff. Along with ongoing Wellness programs in stress management, our Employee Assistance Program, Impact Solutions, offers free counseling to faculty and staff as well as their family members.
  • Treatment works! Contact your health care provider or Impact Solutions if you are struggling.
  • We have resources for the campus community.
  •
NAMI (The National Alliance on Mental Illness) has this cool quiz to determine if you carry a stigma around mental health. Take the quiz and find out how you can be a better advocate for family, friends, colleagues and students.

Finally, during the Benefits fair, there will be presentations from Anthem and Medical Mutual about their specific offerings.
