Creation Care Guided Tour of Heggie's Rock
Saturday, October 12, 9:30 AM
The Creation Care team invites you to another special guided tour of Heggie's Rock Saturday, October 12, 9:30
AM. Space is limited to 12 people, and RSVP required. Due to the popularity of our April excursion, we're offering another opportunity for those unable to attend previously.
RSVP and questions to Nancy Cercy.
Heggie's Rock is a spectacular granite outcrop spreading over 60 acres and rising 100 feet high, in Columbia County. Saint Paul's will have a private guided tour, which will last over two hours. This natural wonder is noted for its unusually high diversity of plant and animal life because it includes a dry outcrop, forests and beaver-impounded streams. The granite outcrop, Heggie's Rock, dominates. It is here you see exposed granite, lichen and moss covered rock, soil islands and the beautiful vernal pools, or dish gardens, which support rare and unusual plants. Heggie's Rock is owned, preserved and protected by The Nature Conservancy of Georgia.
Participants must be able to walk 2+ miles on uneven terrain, and bring your own water and hat, etc. There are no facilities. More info on the preserve here.
