September Training Program Updates

GO Students _ staff pose in front of the Biltmore House

It's been a busy month at Green Opportunities! If anything, our hectic schedule this month has reminded us all that our training programs are operating at their best when people and employers from across our community are actively engaged in supporting our student's growth and success. During the past few weeks our Kitchen Ready and YouthBuild students have participated in budgeting and credit classes led by Anna Smith of OnTrack Financial, and taken a soft skills and career pathways focused-tour of the Biltmore Estate. Catering/GO Café Announcement

Over the years, GO has operated several culinary social enterprises as a way to incorporate additional revenue streams and create job opportunities for program graduates. We've learned a lot, had ups and downs, and continue growing through experience. At this time, we have decided to focus our energy and resources on growing our training programs and re-tooling our social enterprises.  At the end of the month, we will be ending our involvement with the Café at Givens Gerber Park. The wonderful Chef Cindy will remain at the helm of the operation and we wish her and Givens Estates well! Additionally, we have decided to put our Southside Kitchen Catering business on hold while we spend time creating a new business plan to ensure the financial sustainability of the enterprise. Thank you to all of our customers who have supported us through the years. We're looking forward to this next endeavor and will keep you posted when we start catering again.
