EPCAT III ~ Grant of $4.48 million
Dr. Sudeep Shivakumar, principal investigator of EPCAT III, received a grant of $4.48 million in the Spring 2019 CIHR Competition. Congratulations on being funded for the EPCAT III clinical trial and for receiving your first CIHR grant.

Senior Associate Dean ~ Faculty of Medicine
Dr. Darrell White has been reappointed as Senior Associate Dean, Faculty of Medicine for a second five-year term, effective July 1, 2019. 

As Senior Associate Dean, Dr. White contributes to the direction, focus and operations of the Faculty of Medicine to ensure alignment with its strategic mission and vision.

Dr. White has been instrumental in the development of the Nova Scotia Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship in the undergraduate medical education program, as well as the preparation for the external accreditation review of the undergraduate medical education program in 2017 and subsequent status report submitted in 2018.
Assistant Dean ~ Clinical Research
Dr. John Sapp has been appointed Assistant Dean, Clinical Research for a three-year term, effective August 1, 2019. 

As Assistant Dean, Clinical Research, Dr. Sapp will work closely with department heads and the Medical Research Development Office to increase research productivity and involvement in clinical research performed by physicians in clinical departments.
President Elect ~ CPSNS
Congratulations to Dr. Martin Gardner on becoming President Elect for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). Dr. Gardner will assume this role in May 2020.
Excellence in Clinical Teaching
Dr. Christopher Gallant, a community dermatologist in our Division, received the Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award which was presented at the Annual Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) conference in Calgary. Congratulations!
Biking Challenge
Kudos to everyone to who participated in the recent Ride for Cancer on September 28, 2019. Distances ranged from 25 to 160 km on the Rails-to-Trails from Mahone Bay to Halifax.
Baking Challenge
In the Division of General Internal Medicine, the administrative staff have a weekly baking challenge to share their best recipes. One person brings in a dish each week.

Farewell
Dr. George Zawadowski, Division of Cardiology, has left after an 8 month locum.

Debbie Goulden, DoM Physician Services, retires in October. She started with the Department in 1997. Her office is on the third floor of the Bethune Building in the Physician Services wing and she works on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday if you need to get in touch with her. She provides billing support for the Divisions of Dermatology, Digestive Care & Endoscopy and Rheumatology.
