BLCI Program Assistant will provide administrative support including general clerical, receptionist, record keeping, schedule maintenance, and project-based work. Support the Middle School Specialist and High School Specialist in the planning and coordination of BLCI's Programs and partnerships. Assistant must be comfortable working with middle school and high school students across various target schools. BLCI Program Assistant will work closely with Program Specialists to maintain records of students through data software and other record keeping spreadsheets. The MSP/HSP Assistant will help coordinate events, field trips, workshops, trainings designed to educate our students and prepare them for success in high school and beyond. Execute basic administrative support functions including copying, filing, drafting communications, answering calls, taking messages, distributing mail, providing phone coverage, etc.

The UCSD McNair Program facilitates research experience under the guidance of a faculty mentor in the winter and spring quarters of the 2017-2018 academic year and during an 8-week summer program from late June through mid-August of 2018. In the summer, thirty McNair students in all academic fields receive a $2,800.00 research stipend, free on-campus housing, and a free GRE preparatory course. McNair Scholars also participate in a series of seminars designed to prepare them for graduate study and careers in research. 

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the UCSD McNair Program, students must be UCSD juniors or seniors in the Winter Quarter of 2018 (90+ units) and must be either (1) a first-generation college student from a household qualifying as "low income" by Federal standards or (2) a member of an ethnic group underrepresented in American universities (African American, Native American, Chicano/Latino or Pacific Islander).

The deadline to apply is October 20th at the end of the day.  Applications must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation, preferably from a professor.  These letters must be submitted by the end of the day on October 21st.
