The mission of the National Deer Alliance is to serve as the guardian of wild deer conservation and our hunting heritage.

Did You Know?

In last week's survey results, we noted that 89% of our respondents hunted predators to reduce predation on deer. But as you'll see in our survey results this week, most of that predator hunting is happening simply by chance, when a predator happens by during a hunt for some other species. Unfortunately, killing the occasional coyote while out deer hunting in the fall might not be very impactful. The most productive time to trap or hunt coyotes, if legal in your state, is actually right before fawning season. NDA Member Survey

In our survey last week we continued our series on predator hunting, and we kicked that off by asking if our members specifically targeted predators or simply hunted them when they happened by during a hunt for some other species. As noted in the Did You Know, we found that the vast majority of predator hunting by our membership (63%) falls into that second category. We next inquired about why some of our membership does not hunt predators, and the most common responses were a lack of time (58%) and limited experience (37%).

This Week's Survey
This week we're moving on from the topic of predators and into the world of antler restrictions. With antler restriction debates currently ongoing in states like New York and Michigan, we thought now would be a great time to get a pulse on our membership's perspective on this hot button issue.
