Bus and Shuttle On-Time Reminder
We just wanted to take an opportunity to remind our families who are utilizing the daily bus service or shuttle between campuses to please be on time for departures.

The shuttle leaves the high school campus for our junior high and elementary campuses promptly at 7:45am.
Trojans to Honor 2005 & 2009 State Champions; Justin Lett '07 on Friday Night
Thanks to all of our K-12 families who attended our first football home game of the year on Friday! We had a great crowd with all of our grades represented well. We are tallying up the participation counts from each of the grades and homerooms - stay tuned to find out which classes receive an ice cream party from our High School Student Council. We hope you had a fun time at the game!

This Friday night, Valley Christian will not only be hosting Page High School for a 7:00pm game, but we will be welcoming back alumni and coaches from our 2005 and 2009 2A State Champion football teams.

We will also take some time to honor and recognize Justin Lett '07, the Lett family, and the legacy they are leaving through the Justin Kyle Lett, “Dream Then Do, in the Name of the Lord,” Memorial Scholarship.

We hope you'll join us again this Friday night for more Friday Night Football at Valley Christian!

High School Announcements
Clubs at the High School
We have a variety of clubs meeting throughout our high school campus. If you want to get involved in something, come check these out!

NAHS (National Art Honor Society)- meets in the Art Room, once a month on Thursdays from 3:15-4:00pm. Check dates outside of the Art Room. Mrs. Staten is the teacher liaison.

Speech Team- Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30pm in Room 24. Mrs. Blaylock and Ms. Ward are the teacher liaisons.

“Inklings” Creative Writing Club- Meets every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30pm in the Student Center. Sam Costello is the student liaison. Mrs. Ward is the teacher liaison. 

Bridges (connecting students with students)- Meets every Tuesday at lunch in the student center or the courtyard. Mrs. Mackey and Mrs. Morgan are the teacher liaisons.

“Valley for the Voiceless” Pro-life club- meets at various times. Listen to announcements for days and times. Rose Scoggin is the student liaison. Mrs. Cefola is the teacher liaison.

Robotics Club- Meets Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:30-7pm and Saturdays from 8-12noon. Mrs. Dukes is the teacher liaison. See Mrs. Dukes for location.

Theatre Club- meets every other Thursday at lunch in room 25. Abigail Cammiso is the student liaison and Ms. Tompkins is the teacher liaison.

Math Club- Meets Mondays and Thursdays at 3:15-4:15 in room 4. Mr. Larson is the teacher liaison.

The application for Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University is now open. Called the “gold standard” of the nation’s honors colleges by The New York Times, Barrett students benefit from being part of a fully developed four-year residential community of scholars across all four of ASU’s campus locations in metro Phoenix. Spiritual Emphasis Week Begins Today
Our Junior High Spiritual Emphasis Week is this week, September 16-20. We are so excited for this week and the great line-up of speakers for our students and staff. We are truly blessed to be able to take time out of our day to dive into God's Word and worship together.

Chapel times for this week will be from 8:22 to 9:07 on Monday through Friday. Pray for our speakers and our students’ hearts to be softened toward the word of God.

Volleyball team pictures are on September 18 and Soccer team pictures are on September 26. Jon Mouer Photography will be taking our photos again and will be providing a computer link for parents to order photos.

Elementary Announcements
MAP Testing Begins this Week
MAP assessments begin this week for all students. These assessments are not timed and therefore students have the time they need to complete them. The assessments are divided among the content areas on different days/times and administered in our computer lab. The assessment will emphasize areas of Math, Reading, and Language Usage. Remember, we celebrate GROWTH and not solely focus on a scores. All of our teachers have been trained to proctor these assessments. We will have our first school-wide "Growth Party" to celebrate the growth goals of our kids after we complete the Spring assessments. The assessment is an adaptive one that changes the questions based on how the student is answering them. Therefore, students can walk away with a positive experience.

We have a wide range of clubs that your student can participate in. Each Club will start the week of September 16 and go until December 13th. A flyer has been sent home with each student to provide more information on each club. Here is a brief overview. Also, there will be specific check-in and check-out procedures sent to families via RenWeb. 

Basketball (K-6) on Monday from 4-5pm (Basketball Court - Elementary Campus)
Game Design (2-6) on Tuesday from 4-5pm (STEM Lab - Middle School building on Elementary Campus)
Soccer (K-6) on Wednesday from 4-5pm (Soccer Field- Sun Valley Community Church)
Chess (K-6) on Thursday from 4-5pm (Room 19 - Elementary Campus - Next to Library)
Robotics (2-6) on Friday from 2:30-3:30pm (STEM Lab- Middle School building- Elementary Campus)
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are on October 16 and 17. Please use the link below to sign up for a conference with a Kindergarten through 4th grade teacher. Our Middle School (5th and 6th grade) teachers will be available in Valley Central for "arena style" conferences both days from 2:00 - 7:00 pm. 
Papas in Prayer this Friday
Our first Papas in Prayer event at the Elementary campus this week! The group will meet once per month to pray and encourage each other while also moving through John MacArthur's "Brave Dad" book. The first meeting is Friday, September 20 from 7:15-7:50 am in Room 20. Please sign in at the office upon arrival and make your way to the meeting room. 
Spiritual Emphasis Week on September 23-27
Our theme for the entire semester is centered on the idea that as followers of Christ, we first receive everything that we need from Him while placing Jesus first in our lives (Colossians 1:18). Because we are unable to do anything that God calls us to do on our own power, we turn to God to fill us with His grace, love, peace, joy, and salvation. This allows us to live differently than before, and to give to others and share with them what God desires for them as well. For each day of Spiritual Emphasis Week we are focusing on one of these five topics. Stay tuned for additional details and a full schedule to engage our kids and invite all families to a week full of various chapels and activities! Lets pray in advance for the Lord to do a migthy work for our very first Spiritual Emphasis Week!
