to recognize and elevate the work of incredible mentors, companies and organizations within Texas. Now is the time to identify those who deserve this distinguished honor. Self-nominations welcome. Award applications are
EXTENDED and are due by 10 a.m. CST on October 4th
and will be announced by November 5. Awardees and nominees will be recognized during an awards recognition during the
TxGCP Women and Girls in STEM Summit
on Friday, December 6.

Join the Texas Girls Collaborative Project for our 2nd Annual Texas Women and Girls in STEM Summit designed to share best practices, connect organizations and individuals, and showcase outstanding efforts to increase the number of girls in STEM and support the retention of women in STEM careers. STEM professionals and all who are engaged in education, outreach, recruitment, and/or retention of women and girls in STEM are invited to join in.
This event is hosted during Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek), held in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906), and is one of the many events or programs joining in the Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem's CSEdWeek amplification.

The University of Texas at Austin K12 STEM Collaborative, a group of programs, centers, and groups across campus engaged in STEM outreach and education, is hosting a UT STEM Professional Development Day on Saturday, December 7th. Additional information will be available with the Summit registration in September. The day will include 6 hours of professional development workshops (1 hour, 3 hour and 6 hour workshops on various STEM topics). Registration fee will be $40 and includes parking validation, breakfast and lunch. Registration will open in September.
Workshops will include creating electrical circuit creatures using dough, classroom and student engagement techniques, and more! Keep your eyes out for the call for registration soon!

CALL FOR PRESENTERS!
Share best practices, highlight promising practices, lead workshops or facilitate discussions. Anticipated tracks include male advocacy/allies, general inclusion and diversity, volunteering and mentoring, pre-K / elementary school engagement, middle school engagement, high school engagement, college engagement, workforce engagement / corporate women in STEM/tech affinity groups. Accepted presenters will receive a discounted registration rate of $40.

Texas STEM Connections is a web-based tool that makes it easy for STEM professionals to connect with K-20 educators, classrooms, out of school time programs, and other volunteer opportunities. Professionals can share their skills and expertise to bring real-world, authentic learning opportunities to all our students helping to create the next generation of innovators. Through in-person matches and virtual sessions, professionals can help educators and program providers connect their students to the world of STEM. Together we can make a difference.

The Family Engagement Project is a multi-year project leveraging research, convenings, publications and a national social media campaign. STEM Next is pursuing an ambitious agenda on family engagement in the informal realm with application to formal education.

125 flown astronauts and cosmonauts from up to 38 nations, five international regions: USA, Russia, Asia, Europe and “at large” including Canada will travel to invited destinations throughout Texas, speaking to K12 schools and universities, community groups, civic leaders, and company employees about their missions, and the future of space exploration. Goal: 50,000 students.
HOW TO INVITE AN ASTRONAUT TO YOUR COMMUNITY OR SCHOOL: Send an e-mail with your interest and proposed program to
Mr. Daniel Newmyer, VP of Education, Space Center Houston with the Subject Line: ASE Community Day Request. Opportunities are limited by the number of astronaut delegates, so plan early.
ITINERARY: Flyers are available from 7:00 AM until Evening for up to 5 events during the day. Host events may include schools, community groups, civic groups, and Universities. Sponsorships and logistics information is available.

Join the Rice University Office of STEM Engagement (R-STEM) this spring for a FREE professional development course offered to high school AP Environmental Science, Environmental Systems, and Biology/Life Science teachers. It aims to increase your content knowledge and empower you in implementing rigorous project-based engineering activities on the topic of water sustainability in the classroom! Participants receive a $600 stipend, 45 CPE hours, 6 hours of G/T PD credit, 3 hours of grad credit from RICE (upon application plus special registration fee), a materials kit, and more!
Applications close November 15, 2019.
Both students and their teachers can win awards! The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) honors 9th-12th grade students who self-identify as women, genderqueer, or non-binary for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and plans for post-secondary education.
Applications close November 5, 2019.
