TOWNSHIP NEWS   
TWO MILE RUN PARK RESERVATIONS    
Brighton Township residents may begin reserving the Two Mile Run Park facilities for 2020 dates on Saturday, October 12th, 2019.  Reservations will be taken in person only at the Municipal Building on Saturday, October 12th from 8:00 a.m. until noon for Brighton Township residents only.  Proof of residency/photo ID will be required when making your reservation.  Payment is due at the time of reservation.  Reserve by phone beginning Monday, October 14th starting at 8:00 a.m.  Payment for telephone reservations will be due within one week.  Call 724-774-4800 to make reservations.
 
If you are reserving Shultz Lodge for June, July or August, only one reservation per person will be taken for those summer months on Saturday, October 12th.
 
Brighton Township resident rental rates for 2020 for Shultz Lodge will be $140 and $40 for Shelters.
GRAND RE-OPENING OF BRADY'S RUN RECYCLING CENTER     
The Recycling Center will re-open October 21 with NEW operating hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday noon to 5 p.m. and every 3rd Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.  The Center will be closed on Friday.  Recyclable items include:  corrugated cardboard, tin cans, polystyrene, used motor oil, e-waste, mixed paper, scrap metal, yard waste, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and textiles/fibers.
LOCAL EVENTS  
OCTOBER 1, 2, 15  The Beaver County Genealogy & History Center is having beginning genealogy and family history classes at their facility at 250 East End Avenue, Beaver.  The cost is $35 for 3 classes, 3 consecutive weeks from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Learn how to research your family history, complete genealogical charts and forms and how to protect your valuable research. OCTOBER 2  The Veteran's Breakfast Club will meet at Seven Oaks County Club (132 Lisbon Road) between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  Breakfast is $12. RSVP at least two days in advance by calling 412-623-9029.
OCTOBER 3  There will be a one day trip to visit the Washington D.C. national memorials such as the WWII Memorial, Korean War Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.  The trip is for WWII and Korean War Era Veterans and all who served prior to May 15, 1975.  The trip is free.  The bus departs at 5:30 a.m. from the Beaver County Parking Garage (next to the Court House) and returns between 10 - 11 p.m.  There is a nurse on each bus as well as several assistants.  Meals and drinks are provided and wheelchairs are available for those that need them.  The goal is to fill every seat with a veteran!  For more information and reservations, please call Lydian Fisher at 724-728-9370.
OCTOBER 12  Safely dispose of common household chemicals at the Bradys Run Park Recycling Center on Saturday, October 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The fee is $3/gallon (a few exceptions apply).  Cash only.  Call 412-488-7452 or 724-770-2064 for more information.
OCTOBER 31  Trick or Treat will be observed in Brighton Township on Thursday, October 31 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
NOVEMBER 11  A Veterans Day Parade will be held in downtown Beaver.  Plan to participate or attend to honor all who have served.  Parade begins at 10:30 a.m.
NOVEMBER 23  The Tusca Ridge Garden Club will hold their Annual Bounty & Greens Sale between 9 a.m. and noon at the Beaver United Methodist Church, 345 College Avenue, Beaver.  Admission is free.  Fantastic prices on wreaths, live garland roping, and custom decor handmade from a variety of greens.  To pre-order fresh roping and wreaths call Judy Robertson at 724-728-5856.
NOVEMBER 28 Beaver Girls Basketball will hold their 3rd Annual Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk on Thanksgiving Day at 9 a.m.  $25 entry until November 7 and $30 November 8 - November 28.  8 a.m. same day registration. Visit bobcatsturkeytrot.com for more information.
NOVEMBER 28 - DECEMBER 1 The 30th Annual Christmas Extravaganza will be held at Brady's Run Park weekdays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays noon to 9 p.m.  This event features a variety of beautifully decorated trees, train display, gift shop, pony rides, light show, chainsaw carving and so much more!  Adults $7, seniors $6 and children 6 - 12 $4.
NOVEMBER 29 The Beaver Light Up Night will be held in the Business District.  Enjoy an evening of holiday entertainment and attractions featuring the annual holiday parade followed by train rides, carriage rides and much more.  Watch some of the best holiday entertainment on the main stage located on College Avenue and get pictures with Santa at the gazebo.  Grab a hot chocolate or some s'mores while you browse the wonderful shops.  Stay to enjoy the fireworks at the end of the evening!  Held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
NOVEMBER 30  Extravaganza's Breakfast with Santa will be held at Brady's Run Park Lodge from 8:15 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Enjoy breakfast with our special guests like Rudolph, Frosty, The Chipmunks, the Grinch and more!  Santa will be waiting for you in Santa Land to give you a special treat.  Reservations are required by calling 724-201-1797.  $10 children ages 4+, 3 and under free.
NOVEMBER 30 Small Business Saturday takes place in the Business District, Beaver.  Start your day at the West-Aircomm welcome station for hot chocolate and to pick up your shopping pass for a chance to win great prizes from some of your favorite local businesses.  Event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

ANNUAL FALL FUNDRAISER - NOVEMBER 2 
 
This popular event is scheduled for Saturday, November 2 at the Beaver Library beginning at 6:30 p.m. The 2019 theme is "Traditions", which will celebrate those special events and activities which have become an important part of our lives.  Keeping with this theme, raffle baskets and silent auction items will be featured throughout the building.
 
A variety of items will be sold on a cash basis in the two boutiques.   
 
Tickets are available at the library for $12 each, or they may be purchased at the door for $15 on November 2.  The price of the ticket includes a delicious variety of hot and cold appetizers, petite desserts, punch and a coffee and tea bar provided by Cafe Kolache.
 
Tickets for raffle baskets will be on sale closer to the event as well as 50/50 raffle tickets.   
 
Everyone is invited to attend this fun-filled event.  See you at the Beaver Library on November 2!

SHOW & CONCERT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

OCTOBER 4 - 20  Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center presents Matilda The Musical.  Be inspired by the story of an extraordinary little girl who proves that with courage and cleverness you can do anything you put your mind to.  Based on the beloved Roald Dahl novel, Matilda will thrill audiences of all ages with high-energy singing and dancing and inspire you to take your destiny into your own hands.  Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.
OCTOBER 15  The Beaver Valley Community Concert Association presents Savannah Jack at the Beaver Falls Middle School Auditorium.  Savannah Jack returns with a new program of country, pop, and rock party hits.  These versatile musicians infuse their individual style to collectively create that signature Savannah Jack sound.  The group is led by the dynamic and energetic lead singer, Don Gatlin.  Concert begins at 7:30 p.m.  For more information call Jean at 724-869-8507.
NOVEMBER 5  The Beaver Valley Community Concert Association presents Salute to Glen Campbell.  Glen Campbell remains one of America's best-loved and respected country/pop artists of all times.  Relive the Glen Campbell experience as told by his right-hand man and bandleader for 15 years, Jeff Dayton.  Jeff includes stories behind the hit songs and an intimate reflection of a music icon.  Concert is held at the Beaver Falls Middle School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.  Call Jean at 724-869-8507 for more information.
NOVEMBER 8 - 10, 14 - 17, 22 - 24 Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center presents Clue on Stage.  Was it Miss Scarlet in the ballroom with the lead pipe or Colonel Mustard in the study with the candlestick?  Based on the cult classic film and the popular board game, Clue is the whodunit comedy that will leave you guessing until the very end.  Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
NOVEMBER 14 - 17, 21 - 24  Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center presents Disney Frozen Jr.  Do you want to build a snowman?  Loaded with the magic and adventure you and your family have come to love, Disney's Frozen Jr. brings Anna, Elsa, Olaf and friends to life.  Featuring all your favorite songs and new ones you'll surely come to love, this show is a must see.  7:30 p.m. shows Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  2 p.m. shows Saturdays and Sundays. 

NOVEMBER 15 - 16, 21 - 23  The Beaver Bobcat Players present A Streetcar Named Desire at the Ed Schaughency Theater at the Beaver Area High School.  The setting is the sultry French Quarter of New Orleans, circa 1950.  Blanche DuBois, a fading Southern belle, arrives at her newlywed sister's ramshackle flat in hopes of finding shelter from a tempestuous past.  But instead she finds her sister's gruff, brutal husband, Stanley Kowalski, and a provocative dance of forbidden desire soon begins.  The Bobcat Players are proud to present this classic tale of smoldering passions, repressed longings and broken dreams that has become a giant of the American theater.  The subject matter of this performance is suitable for ages 16+.  Show times are at 7:30 p.m.
