Council Member Martin Will Not Pursue Hamblen Road Project

Houston, TX - In the past year, Council Member Dave Martin has visited the Forest Cove Property Owners Association twice to introduce and discuss a city-county project with Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle. The proposed  Multi-Phase Hamblen Road Improvements  sought to streamline traffic over the railroad tracks, widen Hamblen Road to four lanes, connect Hamblen Road to Woodland Hills, upgrade existing drainage, increase pedestrian safety, and bring new amenities like multi-use trails as well as a park to the Forest Cove Community.

Residents had the opportunity to provide public comment to our office about the proposed Multi-Phase Hamblen Road Improvements, beginning August 24 through September 29. Council Member Martin reviewed the comments provided and has decided not to pursue this project any further.

Council Member Martin based his decision on strong community objections and feels that at this time focusing capital improvement funding towards flood mitigation projects along the San Jacinto River as well as the Lake Houston Area would better serve the community.
