Province Reverses Decision on Fire Safety Act

UBCM has received correspondence from Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth advising that the Province has directed the Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) to implement a single standard of fire safety for public buildings whether located in municipalities or unincorporated areas. This directive overturns a commitment made by the previous provincial government. Read more

Interim Report on ALR and ALC

Earlier this month, the Minister's Advisory Committee for Revitalizing the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) and the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) released its interim report, including recommendations for legislative changes and other actions. Read more

Cannabis Production on the ALR

In July 2018, the provincial government amended the Agricultural Land Reserve Use, Subdivision and Procedure Regulation in order to designate the specific means of lawful cannabis production that are considered farm use in the ALR. Read more

Convention Code of Conduct

UBCM Convention delegates are reminded to complete the Convention Code of Conduct acknowledgement form in advance of the 2018 Convention. Delegates were advised in the June 27th Compass article that the new Code of Conduct would be in place and asked to complete the form in advance of attending the 2018 Convention.

Registration Cancellation Deadline

Registrations may be cancelled by writing to UBCM's registration services. A refund of 50% is available for registrations cancelled prior to Friday August 24. No refunds will be provided for cancellations after this date.
