Lower School | Building Improvements

It has been a busy summer at the Lower School campus as the administrative team has worked to oversee significant improvements to the facilities offered. Two walls came down on the east end of the building to create a larger space called “the Forum.” Additional stalls have been added in student bathrooms along with new sinks and counter tops. Outdoor play areas are being constructed, including a sport court. A new A/C unit has been installed on the roof, and there is new base cove throughout the halls. Fresh coats of paint have been added throughout the building and new carpet in many classrooms. The Lower School administration is pleased to have been able to accomplish these improvements for students and looks forward to welcoming them back and further improvements to come.
Lower School | Breakfast and Lunch

The GHI Lower School is pleased to announce that the building improvements have enabled the school to set aside dedicated lunch space for every student. Students are invited to bring a lunch to school or purchase a hot lunch through the food service vendor Preferred Meals. Students who forget their lunch can purchase a hot lunch that day. Dropping off lunches is discouraged. More information about the lunch program, including menus and the application for free and reduced lunch, are available on the website.
Lower School | Drop-off and Pick-up

For Lower School, morning drop-off is from 7:15-7:40 a.m. Students not present in their classroom at 7:45 a.m. are tardy. On full days, student pick-up begins at 3:15 p.m. and ends at 3:40 p.m. On early-release Fridays, pick-up is from 1:20-1:45 p.m. All students must be picked up by these times unless they are enrolled in an after-school activity. A charge may be incurred for students picked up late.

Joyful Order

Classroom order is an essential element in enabling students to learn and grow in virtue, and Great Hearts endeavors to fill all classrooms with joy and the wonder of discovery. Teachers work diligently to nourish the hearts and minds of students every day and will continue to clarify expectations with patience, generosity, and goodwill. As encouraging positive behavior will always be a joint effort between the school and the home, Great Hearts invites you to support your child’s learning and the work of teachers by reinforcing the expectation that students follow classroom rules and make virtuous choices. Together, GHI and families can cultivate a community ardently devoted to the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.
