SEEKING CANDIDATES FOR CHAMBER BOARD

The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce is looking for potential candidates for our open board of directors positions. We are currently seeking board seat nominations for three-year terms covering 2019 - 2021, and we invite qualified members to run for a seat on our board of directors. Serving on the Chamber's board of directors is a great way to become more engaged with the organization, connect with the regional business community and stand out as a leader among your peers.

Current Directors whose terms expire in 2018 are Ron Chriss, Al DeFlaviis, Brad Lukas, Angie Lommen, Dr. Christine Johns, Mike Kramer, John Winter and Mark Vanderpool. We currently have no vacant seats, so we will be filling eight (8) spots to three-year terms.

Eligible directors and qualified members with an interest in serving on our board can submit nominations for consideration by our Nominating Committee. Please contact Chamber President Melanie Davis at 586.731.5400 x22 or [email protected], for more information and to obtain the necessary application.

CHAMBER REWIND...
Last week, the Sterling Heights Area Community Foundation presented a check for $2,000 to Turning Point from the Lil Adams Endowment Fund. Each year, we fund the Lil Adams Endowment with tips raised at Sterlingfest, and when the endowment grows, we are able to provide funds back to Turning Point, the charity that is the designated beneficiary for this endowment.

HAVING TROUBLE WITH YOUR CLOSING NUMBERS? TRY "STRIPPING LINE"
by Sandler Training
Melody was feeling unmotivated.

Carlos, her sales manager, was pressuring her once again to improve her closing ratio... but as usual, he wasn't giving her much guidance on how she should go about accomplishing this goal. Yes-her numbers were bad. Melody knew that. But after three months on the job, she was tired of being lectured about the numbers and didn't feel supported in her efforts to turn things around. In fact, she wasn't even sure she wanted to continue in sales.

M-59 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATE FROM MDOT:

This week MODT continued to make a lot of progress on M-59. Almost all of the stone was placed on eastbound M-59 and driveways are continually being completed and opened. Contractors continue to push hard to get the work done as fast as possible.

MDOT has completed the crosswalks on the mainline M-59 portion, and Schoenherr and Hayes will be complete soon. This material is an innovative new technology which will perform better than the traditional decorative crosswalks that are installed.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact MDOT.
