Tomorrow the San Joaquin River Conservancy has the opportunity to approve the River West Project with access Alternative 1, or Alternative 5b.  If you haven't had a chance to fully look at these access points on your own, here are a few photos to differentiate the two.

Alternative 1 includes access on Riverview Drive - a connector street built to serve a riverbottom development that never took place.  Riverview Drive is not a residential street, and is so wide that you can park 7 cars across it.  The distance from the corner of Audubon and Del Mar to the entrance gate is approximately 736 feet or 245 yards, and does not cross in front of any homes or driveways.

Here is the park that will be decimated by construction of a road through the middle of it under Alternative 5b:

Here is the bluff face that will have to be rebuilt for the construction of the new road contemplated by Alternative 5b.

Here is the view from Spano Park out to the proposed parking area on the inert dump site.  This photo is from March of 2017 and shows the property partly inundated by high flows from the river.

Here is a view of the same area from the other direction, showing a closeup of the inundation on this former landfill property.

Here are the photos of one of the mature Sycamore Trees that will be destroyed by Alternative 5b.

Thank you to River Parkway Trust Board Member Ryan Commons for creating a video that summarizes what's at stake for River West Fresno.
