Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at York Catholic High School!
It is an exciting feeling for the faculty and staff to have the students fill the hallways on the first day of school. We have spent the last two days of in-service preparing for the school year and are looking forward to welcoming our 7th graders tomorrow and the rest of the student body on Thursday.
Of course, this would not be possible without the work of many hands over the summer in preparation for another great school year. We are grateful for our volunteers who assisted with various projects, most notably, all of those who joined us on August 11 to spruce up the outdoor facilities in preparation for our fall sports season. There were also safety upgrades over the summer to include the numbering of our external doors for security purposes, and the thinning of dead branches from our trees surrounding the building. Technology upgrades included the purchase of additional Chromebooks to be used as we continue our migration toward one-to-one technology for our students.
We are welcoming six new full time staff members this year: Ms. Laura McShane will be working to support our teachers' professional needs as our new Director of Staff Formation. Ms. Celeste Andrews and Ms. Emily Lentz are joining us in the English Department, and we also welcome Ms. Barbara Sullivan to the Art Department. Finally, we are excited to have Mrs. Lisa Catalanello as our new Media Specialist and Mrs. Sarah DeLuca as our School Nurse. Please share this information with your children and encourage them to offer a smile as they meet our new staff this year.
We will be sending home several forms for parent signature with your child on the first day of school. All forms must be signed and returned to the Main Office no later
than Thursday, August 30, 2018. These forms contain information critical to the operations of the school. Please be diligent in completing and returning them on time.
Please mark your calendars for the following important dates pertaining to the beginning of the school year. Remember to check our website regularly and read through our Thursday e-newsletter, Irish Eye, for information throughout the year.
