Week of: August 20, 2018
Volume 3, Issue 2
Open House :  I look forward to sharing many of the strategies and resources that will be implemented throughout the year during Open House for parents. 

  • Open House for Kindergarten was already held on Wednesday, August 08, 2018.
  • Open House for Grades 1 and 2 will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. Grade 1-2 parents are invited to go to their child’s homeroom classroom promptly at 6:00 p.m. A brief video produced by the Administrative Team will be shown highlighting programs, events and activities for all students. Immediately following the video presentation, teachers will then talk with parents about classroom routines, procedures and expectations. 
  • Open House for Grades 3 and 4 will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.  Grade 3-4 parents are invited to go to their child’s homeroom classroom promptly at 6:00 p.m. A brief video produced by the Administrative Team will be shown highlighting programs, events and activities for all students. Immediately following the video presentation, teachers will then talk with parents about classroom routines, procedures and expectations. 
  • Open House for Grade 5 will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. Parents will report to their child’s elective class at 6:00 p.m. They will watch a brief video produced by the Administrative Team that will highlight school-wide programs, events and activities for all students. Immediately following the video presentation, the elective teacher will meet with parents for ten minutes to discuss their classroom procedures, routines and expectations. Parents will then move to their child’s morning “Block” teacher for a twenty-minute presentation and end the evening in their child’s afternoon “Block” for a twenty-minute presentation. 
  • Open House for Grade 6 will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. Parents will report to their child’s sixth period class (first elective) at 6:00 p.m. They will watch a brief video produced by the Administrative Team that will highlight school-wide programs, events and activities for all students. Immediately following the video, the elective teacher will meet with parents for ten minutes to discuss their classroom procedures, routines and expectations. Parents will then move to their child’s seventh period class (second elective) for a ten-minute presentation. After the two electives, parents will follow their child’s schedule for periods 1-5 for five-minute presentations. 
  • Open House for Grades 7 and 8 will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. Parents will report to their child’s seventh period class (first elective) at 6:00 p.m. They will watch a brief video produced by the Administrative Team that will highlight school-wide programs, events and activities for all students. Immediately following the video, the elective teacher will meet with parents for ten minutes to discuss their classroom procedures, routines and expectations. Parents will then move to their child’s eighth period class (second elective) for a ten-minute presentation. After the two electives, parents will follow their child’s “Block” schedule for periods 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6 for ten-minute presentations.

Sports Updates

Flag Football K-2
  • Begins Wednesday 8/22/2018 Practice will be on the field beginning at 4:00 pm and will go until 5:30 pm with Coach Unruh 

Flag Football JV/Varsity
  • Began Wednesday 8/15/2018 on the field. Practices will be Monday-Thursday from 4:00-5:30pm with Coach Reynolds

T-Ball K-2
  • Begins Tuesday 8/28/2018 on the field. Practices will be held from 4:00 pm and will go until 5:00 p.m. with Coach Spero

Volleyball
  • Began over the summer and is in the swing of things. Tryouts were on August 4th and August 15th, teams have already been formed. Practice for Volleyball is in the MP Room and are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 pm-7:30 pm as well as some alternate Fridays with Coach Smith. Look at Team Snap for your teams division and times.

Varsity Cheer
  • Varsity Cheer has their roster set. Practices will begin on 8/29/2018 and will be held from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm in the MP Room with Coach Hebert, Win and Consalo

JV Cheer
  • JV Cheer will begin on 8/28/2018. Currently we have openings for JV Cheer! Click HERE to sign up.

Mini Cheer
  • Our Mini Cheer team is full and had to be placed on a lottery because of such a great turnout! We thank you all for your interest in cheer this year. Mini Cheer will begin on 8/29/2018 in room 231. We will have our uniform fitting Friday 8/24/2018 in room 165 at 3:30 pm.

Elementary Competition Squad
  • Tryouts for the competitive cheer will be held 8/21/201/8 and 8/23/2018 from 4:00-6:00 pm in room 231. If you would like to sign up to tryout click HERE. 

Cross Country
  • Cross Country will have tryouts for grades 3-5 on Wednesday 8/22/2018 at 4:00 pm. Please meet on the field.  Students will need to run a 8 minute mile to qualify for the team.
  • Grades 6,7 and 8 will tryout on Thursday 8/23/2018 at 4:00 pm. Please meet on the field. Students will need to run a 10 minute mile in a half to qualify for the team. Practices for cross country will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 pm on the field.
Pinecrest Academy Night with the Las Vegas 51's :  Cosmo invites all students, faculty and their families to join the Las Vegas 51’s on Fireworks Night!

When: Friday, August 31, 2018 at 7:05 p.m. (gates open at 6:00 p.m.)

Deadline to order to will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018 @ 3:30 p.m. To order, please RSVP accordingly indicating the number of tickets needed. Your Infinite Campus account will then be billed under your OLDEST child's name.   ALL PAYMENTS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29, 2018 @ 5:00 p.m. OR YOUR ORDER WILL BE VOID.   Cash or check will not be accepted at the front desk.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures :   Please see the detailed directions for drop-off and pick-up procedures as well as Car-Loop Procedures, attached to this newsletter.      
Drop-off Lunch Table : A “drop-off” table will be set up in front of the Multi-Purpose Room for parents to drop off a lunch, if their child forgot it at home. Please know we will not call to the classroom and disrupt instruction to let your child know his/her lunch is here. Your child will simply check the table when they walk into the lunchroom. Please be sure your child’s name is printed on the bag. 
School Website : Check out our updated website at www.PinecrestInspirada.org . The website is a great tool to stay informed and up to date on events and activities throughout the school. 
TEAMS Before and After School Care :   Pinecrest Inspirada offers before school care, after school care, athletics, clubs and more through our TEAMS program. For detailed information, please see the TEAMS packet attached to this newsletter.  
Visiting/Volunteering at the School : When you visit the school, please report to the office, sign in, and receive a visitor’s badge. You will be asked to show personal identification until we get to know you. If you have a scheduled appointment with a teacher or need to drop off items, please check in with the front office and they will notify the teacher that you are here.  
Chromebook Deployment: We are fortunate enough to have a Chromebook for each student in grades 5-8 to check out and use throughout the year. On the first day of school, your child will bring home a Chromebook Usage Agreement packet. Be sure to bring this with you to the specified Chromebook Deployment time this agreement must be signed by both parent and child (do not turn in packet prior to this day).

  • Grades 6-8: Chrome Book Deployment was completed this past week. Thank you to Mr. Melchin for making this such a quick and efficient process.
  • Grade 5: Chrome Book Development for students in grade 5 will will take place on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. Students will report to their homeroom classroom to receive their Chromebook.
Band Rental Night: Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. (rental information will be distributed to students once school resumes).
Orchestra Rental Night: Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. (rental information will be distributed to students once school resumes).
Cub Scouts Pack 362 Information Meeting: Some kids avoid obstacles. Scouts overcome them. When your child joins Cub Scout Pack 362, they’ll make friends, develop important skills, learn valuable life lessons and build character and confidence. For more information, email Vegascubscoutpack362@gmail.com or join us at our recruitment event on August 30, 2018, at 6 pm in the multi-purpose room. All children from kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome. Labor Day Holiday : Monday, September 03, 2018, will be a school holiday in honor of Labor Day. Enjoy a nice three-day weekend with your family to close out the summer.
