Partake in our Outcome Survey
Every year during the month of October, the Women's Centre asks everyone who has participated in our events, used our services or volunteered with us to fill out our
Annual Outcome Survey.

By participating in this survey, you make your voice heard and help the Women's Centre to shape future plans. Thanks to this survey we are also able to better define community needs, in order to respond to those needs and further our advocacy work for the community.

We would like to invite you all to show your support and take this short online survey and let us know how we are doing. We would love to have your input!

Help make the holidays bright
We understand the holidays are still two months away, however we are already thinking about our Holiday Toy Room in December. This program is huge in supporting women and their families. Last year, the Women's Centre was able to provide a total of 3,864 gifts to women and children to open for the holidays.

If you are interested in making a difference, you can organize your own Toy Drive to gather donations of new and unopened toys for Toy Room. The Women's Centre can offer assistance, whether picking up donations, sending along lists of donation ideas, and/or supporting the Toy Drive.

To set up your own Toy Drive, or if interested in what else you can do to support this program contact Diane at [email protected].
Environmental Issues: Clothes too Good to Waste Workshop
The Environmental Issues Committee wants to bring our attention toward disposal fashion and clothing waste. With so much of the landfills starting to fill up with our old clothes, this event is designed to give you an option before throwing your old clothes into the garbage.

We encourage women to bring the clothes in their closets they don't need anymore and swap them for something new or donate them to someone who could wear them. We will also have a station to show you simple clothing repairs along with a discussion around clothing as a waste issue.

The event is on Wednesday, October 16, from 6 - 8 pm, and we ask that women bring their clothes to the Centre no earlier than 5 pm. If interested in being a part of this event, click here to register or contact [email protected].

Social Issues: Awareness into Action Series Continues
We hosted the first installment of our Awareness into Action Series, Violence Against Women on Monday, September 23 and 30 women joined in the discussion.

This month, the series continues with Violence Against Indigenous Women on Tuesday, October 1 from 6-8pm, and Sisters in Spirit Vigil on Friday, October 4 from 10am-1pm.

Violence Against Indigenous Women focuses on the marginalization Indigenous Women have faced due to colonization, with a special focus on the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women. This workshop is facilitated by Marilyn North Peigan.

Sisters in Spirit Vigil, women can meet at the Women's Centre for 10am where sign making will take place, then as a group they will walk to the Vigil at 11am.

To register for one or both of the remaining installments, click here.

Mugs and Silverware Needed!
The Women's Centre offers a chance for women to sit and have a coffee and treat while they connect with other women, access our services, or want a minute to relax. To make this possible we accept donations of kitchen wares. We are currently in need of mugs, spoons, forks and teaspoons.

If you have any mugs or silverware you wish to donate, you can drop them off at the Centre during our working hours: Mon-Thurs: 10-8 pm, Fri: 10-12:30 pm.

October Workshops

For a full list of upcoming October workshops and to register view our calendar here

This free workshop will guide you through painting on tiles with alkaline inks, while learning about Indigenous cultures and connecting with other women.

Join us to explore which situations and behaviours are safe and which are not with an experienced self-defense teacher. Learn basics on how to stay safe in your daily life and in difficult situations, and how you can defend yourself against an attacker. This is a two-part workshop.

All levels are welcome, and this class will guide you through gentle yoga poses, encouraging you to focus on your breath to be mindful and present. You will leave this class feeling refreshed and relaxed. You will also have the opportunity to make new connections with yourself and with other women during socializing before and after the class.
Our Vision: Women Supporting Communities, Communities Supporting Women.
