CAMPUS CLOSED
Our campus will be closed from 6am until 1pm tomorrow morning, Monday, August 20, for district-wide staff development and training. On Tuesday morning, offices will open by 9am after a morning staff meeting. Please plan ahead if you need to visit campus on either of these days.

LATE REGISTRATION
All students must go through registration before they can attend their classes. Students who missed last week's student registration should report to the Pen High gym on Wednesday, August 22nd at 7am to turn in forms, have their id picture taken and pick up their schedule.

STUDENT DROP OFF
When dropping off students, it is imperative that parents follow the drop off rules. Parents who do not follow the rules are putting students' safety in jeopardy.
  • Be extra vigilant around student pedestrians.
  • It is incredibly dangerous to drop students off on the sidewalk in front of Pen High on Hawthorne Blvd. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should students be dropped off along Hawthorne Blvd heading up the hill before you reach Silver Spur
  • Parents and students are not allowed to enter driveways #1 and #2 for drop off. These driveways are for staff only and lead to the staff parking lots.
  • Our security staff members will be on Silver Spur directing traffic. They will be loud and clear with their directions....follow their directions to help keep everyone safe.
  • Parents who are in a hurry and cut the line, and those who decide to have a "long good-bye" at the drop off point, disrupt the process.
  • It's all about student safety!
Please follow the approved traffic flow and drop off in GREEN areas only

Students parking in the student parking lot must have their 2018-19 1st Quarter parking pass visible in their vehicle windshield. Tickets will be issued for cars parked illegally in the Student or Staff parking lots.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
On Wednesday, Link Crew held its annual New Student Orientation, welcoming our freshmen and transfer students to the Panther family! Under the direction of Link Crew Coordinator Beckie Dibble, an engaging program was presented to over 600 new students. In addition to the gigantic ice-breaker taking place at the beginning of the day in the gym, leaders took their 10-12 new student "crews" to classrooms for small-group activities and led them on themed tours of the campus. We're already impressed by the Class of 2022's enthusiasm and cooperativeness, and Ms. Dibble and her Link Crew Leaders are looking forward to a great year with them. Freshmen, stay tuned for all the fun Link Crew events we've got planned for you this year!

REGISTRATION DAY
Last Tuesday over 2,000 students registered in the school gym. They were assisted by over 90 adult volunteers helping inside and outside the gym and in the library. Our thanks go to PTSA registration chairs, Nancy Shafer, Renee Goldstein and Lisa Jaksic, and all the parent volunteers and PVPHS staff members that had a hand in making the day go smoothly for our students.

The PTSA is still looking for volunteers for Late Registration on the first day of school. Click HERE for information and to sign up to help. Late Registration for students begins at 7:00 in the school gym on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 22.
BACK TO SCHOOL DANCE
The "Back to School" dance will be in the PVPHS Gym on Friday, September 7th from 7:30 until 10:30 pm. This dance sells out EVERY YEAR, sometimes well-before the day of the dance. Tickets can be purchased in the Student Store for $18.
NOTE: Students that are registering in the gym on the first day of school can have their Dance Ticket Form stamped in the gym and then purchase their ticket at the Student Store anytime on Wednesday for the early-bird price of $15.

SPIRIT PACK PICK-UP
Haven't picked up the Spirit Pack you ordered this summer? Please come to the Activities Office, P115, on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday this week. If you didn't order a Spirit Pack, but would like some Spirit Pack items like zoo shirts, zoo socks, zoo visors, zoo sweats, class comp shirts, agenda books, and more, complete the ASB Merchandise Order Form and bring it (with your cash or check payable to PVPHS ASB) to the Activities Office P115.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
nhs Attention all juniors and seniors. It's that time of the year again...National Honor Society is looking for some great new members. If you have a cumulative GPA of 3.65 or higher (check eligibility list outside of S10) and are interested in applying (submitting a Candidate Information Packet) you must attend a MANDATORY information meeting in the Gym on Wednesday, August 29th at 6:00 p.m. We will go over the guidelines for NHS and how to fill out your packet. This meeting will also provide you with information about what is considered acceptable community service. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory and is the only way you will be allowed to submit a Candidate Information Packet for review for membership. Any questions, please see adviser, Mrs. Borstel in S10. You may also email her at [email protected].

Students must attend the classes as listed on the schedule they received at Registration. Students requesting scheduling adjustments should pick up a Program Change Request Form from the Counseling Office once school starts, complete it, get a parent signature, and then return it to the Counseling Office no later than August 29. Students on class waiting lists will be contacted by their counselor if a seat is available. Changes will not be made based on teacher preference.

The last day to request a change of schedule is Wednesday, August 29. The last day to level down in a class without a penalty is October 5.
