Dear Families and Friends of OLQP,
Students and staff at Our Lady Queen of Peace have been very busy! Field trip season is well underway with first and second graders enjoying a trip to the planetarium. Middle School students searched through the campus for clues to solve a mystery. After reading a mystery novel, they had to find comprehension questions, answer them correctly to receive their clues, and then solve the mystery. Middle School math teacher, Mrs. Thomas, spearheaded "Celebrate Pi Day." Middle school students applied concepts learned about pi by leading activities with lower elementary students. Lower elementary teachers incorporated pi activities into the curriculum for the day. School-wide activities included a parade after prayer with each student representing a digit of pi and a contest to see who could name the most digits of pi. At the end of the day, when asked about "pi," a first grader responded,
"Do you mean the number or the food?" Impressive!
The liturgical season of Lent is enriched by many devotions and constant encouragement to reach deeper into a life of prayer and conversation with Our Lord. One of the annual events at OLQP is Living Stations of the Cross. Please consider joining your OLQP family on Thursday, March 30, for the Lenten Potluck and Living Stations of the Cross. The students' reenactment of Our Lord's Passion is a great gift to the community and honors Our Lord in a special way.
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.
Principal

Did You Know?
On Tuesday, March 21, the OLQP community gathered for the annual Town Hall meeting. The BOT committee chairs provided an overview of this year's work and highlighted the efforts and progress made to address the top three concerns that were identified at last year's meeting: enrollment, technology, and curriculum.

After the meeting, attendees enjoyed pie and were invited to tour the school to see student work displays throughout the building. If you were not able to attend, check the OLQP Facebook page by clicking here.

Field Trips
As we kick off "field trip" season, please be aware that these trips are an extension of the classroom. Teachers are required to provide a curriculum-based reference for the trips. As such, while there is an opportunity for socialization with peers, the primary focus is academic. These trips provide enrichment beyond the classroom. OLQP respects the adult attendance limitations set by the locales visited. Also, the school follows archdiocesan guidelines for student to teacher ratios. If you are asked by your child's teacher to serve as a chaperone, please understand that you are essentially in attendance to work as a teacher's aide. Adherence to safety and school standards is of utmost importance. Know that we appreciate our volunteers. Working together, students will have a great day of learning! Click
