What's next?
  • If you have any special circumstances not reflected by questions on FAFSA or Dream Act: contact schools individually at their financial aid offices to inform them or CLICK HERE for more information
  • Review your Financial Aid Award Letters once they're distributed from the colleges you have applied to 
  • Create an account for the colleges you have applied to on their websites. Sometimes, schools request additional documents from applicants.
  • Placement exams are required for CSUs for class enrollment purposes - unless exempt by scores on ACT/SAT/EAP. Register now!
  • CSS profile is sometimes required by private schools. Make sure to complete the form to apply for financial aid. CLICK HERE for more information.
  • Make sure to report any D's or F's to schools you have applied to.
*If you have not been able to submit a FAFSA or CA Dream Act application, submit the application ASAP and contact your college's Financial Aid Office for additional assistance.
Helpful tips :
  • DON'T limit yourself to ONLY applying to huge scholarships
  • DO apply to scholarships with any amount they offer because not only is every single penny going to benefit you, but it also adds up!
  • DO make sure to look over Summer Programs applications ASAP! Spots fill up very quickly and sometimes they require additional documents
  • DON'T lose track of any deadlines!
  • DO organize yourself and apply earlier if possible.
Description:   ISF is a non-profit organization committed to transforming the lives of orphaned or former foster care students by providing different forms of assistance to pursue a higher education. ISF scholarship recipients receive financial assistance and are partnered with a personal mentor to work with them through their journey.
Eligibility: Student must demonstrate having been in foster care or orphaned while living in the U.S. (U.S. citizenship is not required.) 
Must be a high school senior or a college student planning on being an undergraduate for 2017-2018 to apply. 
Amount: $1,000
Description:  Mr. Rekey's successful Locksmith company is awarding one college-bound high school senior with a scholarship to pursue a higher education and alleviate some of the financial stress of obtaining a degree.  Applicants must submit a 1-2 minute video about how a college education will make a positive improvement in his or her life.
Eligibility:  Students must be current high school seniors expecting to graduate Spring 2017, applied for college Fall 2017. Students must reside in the U.S., but Citizenship not required. Cannot be employed by or related to an employee of Mr Rekey.
Amount:  $1,000
Description:  The NSHSS Foundation provides scholarship opportunities for underrepresented groups  to help reduce financial barriers for those with academic and leadership potential and the desire to pursue a career in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
Eligibility:  To apply, students must be a high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA pursuing a degree in the STEM field. 
Amount:  $1,000
Description : DoSomething.org encourages young people to make positive change through online and offline campaigning. DoSomething.org's current campaign is focused on putting an end to discriminatory discipline in schools across the country. To apply for this scholarship, students should sign up at DoSomething.org to learn how to amplify the narratives and share his or her own experience of unfair school discipline.
Eligibility: Ages 13-25. Must live in the U.S. or be a U.S. citizen
Amount:  $3,000
Description:  Project Yellow Light is a scholarship competition designed to highlight change through imagination and creativity. To apply, students must create a 25-55 second video or 20 second radio ad to encourage friends and all audiences to avoid distracted driving, specifically, texting while driving. In addition to a scholarship, the winning entries will be turned into an Ad Council PSA and distributed nationally.
Eligibility: Must be a legal U.S. resident in high school (junior or senior) or a full-time undergraduate college student. Entrants may apply individually or as a team.
Amount:  $1,000-$5,000
Description : Attendees will participate in powerful workshops and seminars that enhance leadership skills, academic preparedness, self-esteem, cultural awareness, and provide an understanding of state and local government. SLC CLYLP takes place on Saturday, July 22 to Saturday, July 29.
Eligibility : Must be enrolled in a CA high school for 2016-2017. Freshmen & Seniors are ineligible to apply. Applicants must not have previously attended conference.
Cost of Program:  FREE (Housing and transportation for entirety of event is provided by CLYLP)
