Writers have compared opals to volcanoes, galaxies, and fireworks. Admirers gave extraordinary opals poetic names like Pandora, Light of the World, and Empress. In ancient Rome, this gem symbolized love and hope. The Romans gave it a name—opalus—that was synonymous with “precious stone.” - GIA.edu

Give new life to old jewelry!
10 YEAR UPGRADE & REPAIR
After 10 years of daily wear and tear plus coming up on an important milestone anniversary, this client's wedding rings were in need of a make-over. Several of the smaller diamonds in the bands of both rings were chipped and cracked, with the platinum settings becoming gray and dull over time. Additionally, the client wished to upgrade the size of the center oval diamond. The original oval diamond was remounted into a diamond halo pendant setting, so it could be worn every day. A new, larger oval diamond of equal quality was sourced and put back into the original settings, after refurbishment to the mountings with all broken diamonds replaced. This make-over was a great success by keeping the sentimental original wedding ring style "as is" and the original diamond in its own new setting.
MIXED STONE DROP EARRINGS AND CUFF BANGLE
Having built up a sizeable collection of loose colorful, semi-precious gemstones over years of international travel, this client did not know what to do with so many gems. Featured in one of our previous make-over editions, the client was shown a beautiful "Maltese" style gold bracelet and loved the design. Measurements were taken of her wrist and a layout of her gemstones in a pleasing color balance was created. As the bracelet would be so unique and there were many more gemstones to utilize, coordinating drop earrings were also designed. The warmth of 14 karat yellow gold was used to cast the bracelet and earring mounting, with all gemstones being hand set. The result? A stunning, bold set to compliment any outfit!
3 STACKING RINGS CONVERTED TO 1 SUBSTANTIAL RING
Annoyed with the fit and feel of these 3 individual stacking rings, this client turned to Diamonds On The Key for a make-over consultation. The 3 rings no longer fit her finger and never stayed lined up properly on the hand. Gaps in between each ring were unattractive and detracted from the beautiful sapphire, diamond and ruby gemstones. The solution was the remove the ill-fitting skinny shanks of each of the 3 rings and custom create a smooth, wide shank, to join all 3 rings into one design. The gemstones were perfectly aligned and soldered permanently fixed, so they could no longer "slide" out of place. The end result was a more substantial, singular ring that fit the finger and hand perfectly!
DIAMOND STUD EARRING CONVERT TO PENDANT NECKLACE
Having lost one of her diamond stud earrings, with only a 1/2 pair remaining, this client decided to transform her singular earring into a pendant necklace to wear every day. The diamond was unset from the old basket earring mounting and reset into a modern, sleek bezel setting with an adjustable length cable chain. The client had two extra small diamonds, which were added into the chain as well. The result? A new classic piece of jewelry to wear every day, at a minimal cost, compared to matching the diamond and recreate a pair of earrings. The client was thrilled!

  • How did you come to wear the Red Sox Championship ring with your DOTK rings? Katy's family was thrilled to hear the Yankees were playing the Red Sox the day after our wedding and immediately booked a private party space for us to watch the game. The party coordinator kindly allowed us all to take photos with and hold the Red Sox Championship ring, as well as featured our names and a congratulatory message on the score board after the 7th inning. It was a very fun and memorable event!
  • Who attended? Only the bride's side of the family attended the game, while the Red Sox fans watched from home.
  • Red Sox Versus Yankees? How big is the rivalry between both of you? The rivalry will remain throughout our marriage as we are both loyal to our home teams!
